A University of Arizona research team discovers an interesting side effect to a sunless tanner (a bronzer) compound (Bremelanotide):

when the scientists ran tests on a small number of men, they heard back from almost all with an unexpected response: sudden and stunningly rigid erections. And unlike the effects of Viagra, which were all about the hydraulics of the blood, the bronzer tilted the mind, left it reeling with lust.

The compound also worked with female rats and humans:

But what inspired corporate glee was the female reaction. The tallies of hops and darts, of head-pointings and prancings away, of climbing the hindside of a male and doing a demonstration hump - the utterances of 'I crave you' in feminine rat parlance-- soared.

Some of the human female responses included:

I was focused on sex; I wasn't thinking about anything else. My climax was like it used to be. I was able to climax multiple times.

Unfortunately, the compound also caused nausea and high blood pressure in a small number of human females, so the company didn't complete the FDA approval process. If this drug gets released, no one would get any work done, so it's probably for the best.

The direction drugs are going is one of the craziest parts about the future. Anti-depressants are a relatively new thing, historically. The next generation of mood enhancers is gonna, frankly, rock. They may enhance not only our mood, but also intelligence, spiritual sense, empathy, sensuality, introspection, creativity, you name it.

We're going to see cures or treatments for diseases like cancer, Alzheimers, and most genetic diseases in the next 20 years, not to mention all sorts of anti-aging treatments.

For the first time, scientists are able to engineer any part of the human genome with extreme precision using a revolutionary new technique called Crispr, which has been likened to editing the individual letters on any chosen page of an encyclopedia without creating spelling mistakes. The landmark development means it is now possible to make the most accurate and detailed alterations to any specific position on the DNA of the 23 pairs of human chromosomes without introducing unintended mutations or flaws, scientists said.

Exclusive: 'Jaw-dropping' breakthrough hailed as landmark in fight against hereditary diseases as Crispr technique heralds genetic revolution
