is it my ipod or is it my computer?

I tried syncing my ipod, but it kept saying sync failed. so i decided to restore it, and it got to a certain point and said restore failed. any ideas?

now it's being a complete dick and not showing up anywhere on my computer and i tried restarting. running a virus scan, because my sound card failed temporarily earlier

I've done everything the internet says to do, and it still acts like my ipod's not connected.

i figured it out, it was a combination of the cord and the usb port i was using
