The study successfully went through peer review – although its presentation was slightly unconventional.

“Scientists do experiments on monkeys, because they are similar to man, but bees could actually be close to man too,” the introduction read. The report was peppered with other amusing phrasing and diagrams drawn in coloured pencil.

I think this is totally cool and I think this sort of thing should be encouraged more often.

The study was coordinated by this guy: http://www.ted.com/speakers/beau_lotto.html

I say good on them - if it's good enough to get through peer review, then why should childrens' work be kept out of the scientific literature?

I think people of any age and background can research things. I like it that children's work gets published. Children spend a lot of time learning and exploring, and there is always the chance they will discover things that adults would never find time to stop and look at or would never look at in that way.

So my thoughts are "well done!"
