I've left cell phones, laptops and i-pods on by accident on airplanes and none of them ever crashed :cheese:

Never forgotten about cellphones and laptops, just because it makes no sense to leave them on in a place with no mobile network, or internet service.

iPods work normally.

I sometimes pretend to turn them off and still use them.

I grew up on airplanes. Turning off electronic devices is an instinct, as is putting my seat back and tray table in the upright and locked position. ;)

Such an S thread. Bahahaha

I "forget" to alllll the time ;) cellhphone and iPod.

but seriously though, why do they even fuss? it must be an issue because they take the time to tell you to shut them off, but they also must know that a lot of people really won't shut them off..so what's the deal?

That's my question, too. I assumed it would interfere with the radio signals between the plane and the control tower and make the plane liable to crash, but if it was that crucial, it seems like they'd be stricter about enforcing it.

I've...never had to turn my laptop off. I only turned off the wireless radio, no point having that on when out of range of a network anyway. A computer can be used for non-internet things, you know.

I turned my phone off, though, it's not like it will work in the air.

Its one of those things like cell phones in hospitals. They don't know if something could go wrong but they make you do it anyway 'just to be sure'. From what I've heard its a load of crap. It seems like no one has actually bothered to do decent research into the matter.

Even so, I turn my electronics off, begrudgingly.

Usually switch to flight mode.

There are a few times I've forgotten though.
