Oh man, that movie was awesome. Anyone thought about the emotions types yet?

Joy - ESFP
Sadness - INFP 'Remember the funny movie where the dog dies?'
Disgust - ENFJ (favorite character definitely)
Anger - Te-Se?
Fear - Some kind of SJ

Those are just wild guesses.

Joy seemed more ExFJ to me. She was really bent on being the central emotion in control of Riley's actions. And she seemed more goal-oriented and responsible than whimsical. I think the reason she was so whimsical anyways was to maintain her position as the head controller. Regardless I think the most clear part of her personality is that she's of the 127 tritype.

I agree Sadness is probably IxFP - I have a hard time distinguishing N/S for her.

Disgust - ENFJ yah.

Anger seems like an ESTx 8w7 I think.

Fear is probably ISxJ...maybe ISFJ 6.

Chanaynay You're right about Joy now that you mention it, although ESFJ would be more likely I'd say, with trying to maintain order all the time.

Doubt ESTP, since it's more likely for types with inferior feeling to have those kinda outbursts. Can see ESTJ for Anger though.
"Anger feels very passionately about making sure things are fair for Riley. He has a fiery spirit and tends to explode (literally) when things don’t go as planned."

Well yeah, Fear is definitely 6. Anger could be 8, Joy 2 or 7 and Sadness? Maybe 9? Unsure about Disgust.

My thoughts;

Joy- ExFJ
Sadness- IxFP (leaning towards INFP).
Fear- ISFJ
Anger- I actually thought ESTP in an Se-Fe loop but I could see ESTJ also.

From a previous thread:
I actually viewed the emotions as functions. Riley is an ENFP and since Joy came first is therefore Ne. Sadness is Fi, Anger Te and Fear and Disgust as Si.

Don't think the writers thought about that in terms of MBTI, but I get what you mean.

Joy seems more Fe to me by now. Disgust also Fe = Si maybe.

Just watched it. I thought was a very clever take on mental development.

I like the idea of looking at the emotions as functions.

I also liked eventual reconciliation of the idea mixed emotions and mixed memories.

Predictably, my wife didn't enjoy it since it required her to actually think and hell about things she would rather not face.....

This. I thought the concept of the film was that the characters represented single emotions, so I don't see how a personality type could be assigned, as personalities are complex and multifaceted (moreso than MBTI conveys, but that's for another thread... :whistling:). ESFPs aren't always :happy2: and SJs aren't always :freaked:.

I'm thinking ExFP 7w6 sx/so for Bing Bong, how he wants to bring joy to Riley, I can see him leading with ne or possibly se. He doesn't want to be forgotten but he sacrifices himself for Riley's happiness and joy.

I'll add enneagram!

Joy: ESFJ 2w3 7w8 9w8 so/sp [Hard to gauge, but she is very controlling and not incredibly neurotic... In the end 7w6 could be better]
Anger: ESTJ 8w9 (863)
Fear: ISFJ 6w7 sp/so
Disgust: I was thinking more Si for her character, probably a 1 and 4 fix somewhere in there...
Sadness: IxFP 496 sp/so
