I once saw ESFJ for Mario. But again, that's what I saw. And I really haven't played enough to make a judgement.

Super Mario Bros is a metaphor for contemporary communism. Mario is like a modern-day Joseph Stalin, who gets his jollies from stomping on poor turtles who want nothing more than to stay in their shell. He gets strength from consuming mushrooms and hallucinogenic plants, and is always trying to save some mythical princess that's probably more happy hanging out with that giant turtle, anyway.

Luigi is Mario's dopey animal rights activist friend that wants to liberate Petco by dropping all the tropical fish into the employee toilets.

I'm not sure what's up with the pipes. The internet as a series of tubes, maybe?

Mario has barely any dialog, is just ridiculous all the way, and has a super simple premise. I don't think the Mario characters can be typed.

I think it's a stretch to say that any of these characters even have personalities. Goombas? Really?

I think it's a stretch to say that any of these characters even have personalities. Goombas? Really?

The main characters do have some personality in the later games once the storylines started getting more complex. But yeah, I have no clue how you could say characters like Koopa or Goomba have a type because they don't even get any actual dialogue (although judging based on OP's grudge against ESFJs I can see why he'd pick Goomba for them).

From the characters you could type I'd say...

Mario: ESTP

Mario is known for being kind, cheerful, courageous, and headstrong and is also eager and cocky in certain occasions. He has an immutable sense of heroism, friendliness, and somewhat of a fiery personality. Officially, however, Nintendo producers have stated that Mario's biography is kept simple in order to make the character versatile and reusable in many different games and situations.

Mario has been shown on very occasions, such as certain cutscenes in Mario Power Tennis, but often in Super Mario-Kun, to have an almost overbearing attitude towards his brother. However, this could also just be Mario's outgoing "big brother" personality interacting with Luigi's more introverted nature. Additionally, Mario is much more impulsive and aggressive than his brother Luigi and is willing to enter dangerous situations all alone. Mario will often attempt to quickly solve a problem with his actions. Mallow even had to physically restrain Mario from brawling several times, such as before the battle with Bowyer, so that the heroes could figure out what exactly was happening to their world. While Mario will accept help and even partners during his adventures, at times he may also resent the implication that he needs the help in the first place.

Despite these potential flaws, Mario is a kind-hearted and brave hero who often places the problems and needs of others before his own. This is shown in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door when Doopliss steals his identity, and he is still willing to help Vivian with her problem. He is willing to risk his life to save the lives of millions from Bowser's destructive forces and any other villains he comes across.

Luigi: ISFP

Luigi is portrayed as timid and a bit of a coward. His cowardly attitude was first shown in Super Mario Adventures. He also worries and is considerably self-conscious. However, he overcomes his fears and acts like a hero when necessary.

Arguably, Luigi's most apparent trait is his seeming cowardice. Though he showed several instances of cowardice in early non-game media such as The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, his cowardly nature was not actually shown in-game until Luigi's Mansion (aside from a few hints in Paper Mario), and has carried over to almost all of Luigi's subsequent appearances. Although Luigi's phasmophobia is his most overbearing fear, he usually reconsiders at the mere thought of any monsters or trials, especially in the Mario & Luigi series. However, Luigi can be quite brave, and has saved the Mushroom Kingdom alongside his brother multiple times. Super Paper Mario especially glimpses into Luigi's more courageous side, showing him boldly rushing into dangerous situations and rarely even implicating his cowardice.

Luigi is also portrayed as somewhat refined, leading the "Luigi Gentlemen" in Mario Superstar Baseball. Luigi's Mansion shows him to be a bit of a neat freak, constantly criticizing the dustiness of his mansion and even mentioning at one point that he hand washes his cap as opposed to using a washing machine as his brother does. He also seems to have an eye for art, but doesn't appreciate many of King Boo's decorations. Luigi has been known to cross-dress three times. The first time was in Super Mario Adventures, second in Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga and third was (implied) in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. Like Toadette, Luigi can be sensitive when someone insults him, especially if the jab in question regards his mustache (as proven prior to his showdown with Dimentio). Luigi also appears to show concern for cruelty to animals; he is horrified by the deer heads and leopard skin rugs in the Safari Room in Luigi's Mansion and declares that he won't stand for an animal being treated in such a manner.

Peach: ESFJ

Princess Peach is classy, kind, clever, and adventurous. She often displays an unselfish and noble spirit and puts her friends ahead of herself. For example, in Super Paper Mario, Peach states she was taught to help others. She has been said to have a gentle demeanor but can be tough when the situation calls for it.

Throughout the games many aspects of Peach's personality is showed. Peach displayed her pure heart in Super Paper Mario when she saved Mimi despite being picked on by her. Along with that, she can be naive and very strong-willed at times, but Peach is also wise and motherly. Peach seems to enjoy exploring and trying new things. Peach is also sweet and hospitable to others.

Peach has often expressed loneliness without Mario and she also apologizes excessively for getting into trouble. Peach enjoys the company of others, as she has hosted parties in her castle in Paper Mario and had Baseball Kingdom constructed for all her friends. She generally has the personality of a polite lady though she can be competitive and playful. She still shows good sportsmanship in many appearances.

Bowser: ESTJ

Bowser's personality is explored most extensively in the various RPGs, starting with the first one, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, in which Bowser loses his castle to a greater villain. As well as the grief he expresses over his castle, Bowser is shown to be as sad as the other playable characters about Geno's body breaking down, and at one point, his boasting takes the form of a haiku. As in later RPGs, however, most of Bowser's actions in the game are self-centered, with his motivation for joining the heroes solely being to reclaim his stolen castle and prevent another villain from taking over the world that he himself desires.

Bowser has never shown remorse for his troublesome actions and the havoc they often cause, but he is often saddened by his own losses. In Super Mario Galaxy, his only regret is his failure to create his own realm, and in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, he is upset about having to damage his own captured castle as he tried to reclaim it from Fawful.

While his range of emotions varies from game to game, it is his nearsightedness, frustration, anger, and contempt that typifies Bowser in all his appearances, whether he is a reluctant protagonist or a straightforward villain who cares only about conquering lands and destroying his opposition.

Yoshi: ESFP

Yoshi has a very similar personality to Mario, being brave and kind, albeit underdeveloped. Yoshi is a friendly individual who always lends a helping hand to those in need. He could be considered a hero and has helped his friends, defeated the evil King Bowser Koopa, and saved his island more than once. He is also very courageous, allowing the green dinosaur to stand and fight enemies much larger than himself, including Yoob, an enlarged Bowser, Nep-Enuts, Tap-Tap the Golden, and the gigantic Baby Bowser. As a result of this courage, Yoshi often takes on a leadership position to the Yoshi clan, although Yoshi has no official political status (unlike the Village Leader from Lavalava Island).

Toad: ISFJ

Toad is often foreseen as a happy character (happy almost to the point of childishness). His official artwork often shows him with a wide, happy smile on his face. Within the games, Toad is often depicted in a child-like manner by often performing actions that resemble those of a child (such as jumping enthusiastically and cheering on in a joyful way). However, he is also sometimes seen as somewhat of a coward. He is presumably one of the most humble characters in the Mario series, as he seems to be actually aware of his own cowardice. Despite this, Toad is kind and often helps Mario on his multiple adventures. In a variety of games, he has been referenced multiple times to being a very kind and polite Toad who generally roots for the well being for just about anyone who he calls his friend.

Toad is almost never seen to get angry. Where most characters would get angry, Toad merely gets upset, and indeed has been described as an impatient character. He is shown to be an excitable little guy, and is often shown running around frantically. Despite all this, he still manages to be brave when the need truly calls for it.

Wario: ENTJ

Wario is extremely greedy and will do anything to get money, be it stealing or going on an adventure (but mainly the latter). He is also a miser, as he never lets anyone touch his treasure. He is also gluttonous and addicted to sweets. Alas, his greedy nature overtakes him and he goes out of control occasionally, even going as far as to double-cross his friends.

Wario is not as unintelligent as he appears to be since he makes WarioWare games and can fly a plane. In fact, he may actually be very skilled at electronics, as he made a dimensional teleporter in a few seconds. He also constructed the Mario Kart 64 race track Wario Stadium. The reason many assume he is a bonehead is that he is hot-headed, clumsy, and sometimes forgets his common sense.

Wario is very aggressive, especially in the Mario Kart series, as he pushes racers off the road if in his way. In the Mario Party series, he apparently puts his greedy nature aside to play fair. In general sports, Wario is a braggart and a sore loser, even going as far as to claim that somebody is cheating when he loses.

Daisy: ENFJ

Daisy is well known to be a tomboy by reason of her extroverted personality and tough demeanor. She can be described as energetic, cheerful, and confident. She also has a sassy side, often regarded for her wittiness and attitude. Daisy tends to stand with her hands on her hips, and is prone to air-kisses and showboating during victory celebrations. She has a strong competitive drive, too. In the face-of-defeat she has exhibited hotheadedness, and has shown-off to get her way.

Bowser Jr: ESTP

Bowser Jr. can be summed up as a bold and energetic troublemaker. His trouble making side is seen as he tricks Mario in both Super Mario Sunshine and New Super Mario Bros. According to Mario Kart Wii, Bowser Jr. inherited his father's bad attitude, evident in his motto ("Grin and bear it. When that don't work, grin and crush it."). He is also bratty, spoiled, and short tempered, though in Mario Party DS it is stated he has a lonely side. His favorite hobbies are stealing cookies, causing trouble for people, and scribbling (which may explain the widespread Graffiti that was made at Isle Delfino). However, he seems determined to defeat Mario in a fair fight in order to prove his power. His bio in Paper Mario: Sticker Star suggests he is also occasionally lazy due to riding his Junior Clown Car throughout the game. He's also apparently quite bright, with his Final Smash trophy in Super Smash Bros. Wii U stating he's brainier than his father.

Rosalina: INFJ

Rosalina is generally wise and kind. She has an intimate knowledge of the universe and cares deeply for the Lumas. Her outward strength and inner sorrow are likely due to the loss of her mother.

It has also been shown that Rosalina's voice is rather monotone, even when she is excited. Like most players, Rosalina enjoys special activities, but in a very humble manner.
