The immediate and saliant feature of Gaddafi's personality appears to us to be that he has a Histrionic Personality http://www.millon.net/taxonomy/histrionic.htm

In MBTI terms, this usually translates into xFP, and such people are often extroverts.

"I am an international leader, the dean of the Arab rulers, the king of kings of Africa and the imam of Muslims, and my international status does not allow me to descend to a lower level" - Gaddafi

(Referring to an interview with Gaddafi): "My honest reaction to him is I thought he was on drugs. There was something so out there about the way he behaved, so vacuous, so vague, the glazed look in his eye. It was all very, very weird.” - Fareed Zakaria

"I am not going to leave this land. I will die as a martyr … I shall remain, defiant. Muammar is leader of the revolution until the end of time." - Gaddafi

"All my people love me. They would die to protect me"- Gaddafi

"If a community of people wears white on a mournful occasion and another black, then one community would like white and dislike black and the other would like black and dislike white … this attitude leaves a physical effect on the cells as well as on the genes in the body." - Gaddafi

"To our son, his excellency, Mr Barack Hussein Obama. I have said to you before, that even if Libya and the United States of America enter into a war, god forbid, you will always remain a son. Your picture will not be changed." - Gaddafi in his letter to Obama

(On being called crazy): "Of course it irritates me, nevertheless I do believe the majority of ordinary people in the four corners of the globe do love me."- Gaddafi

"Gaddafi also had a slightly eerie fascination with me personally, asking visitors why his 'African princess,' wouldn't visit him." - Condoleezza Rice

"The actual evidence ... is that Qaddafi senior has reached his Ceausescu moment: a full-dress (in the literal sense) meltdown into paranoia, megalomania, and delusion." - Chrisopher Hitchen

Hitchens is right that Gadaffi was insane/ paranoid/ on drugs the last many years of his life.

- Fareed Zakaria and others who have interviewed him describe him as intense, weird, and behaving as if on drugs. Still, in his younger days, he was considered extremely compelling and charismatic.

- He was deeply concerned with his image. In addition to his ostentatious clothing, female bodyguards, over-the-top gestures of "Africanness" and "Bedouinness," and all the rest, he is known to have undergone cosmetic surgery to look younger (hence his strange appearance in later life) and at his death was discovered to be wearing a wig.

- His "Green Book" of political philosophy contains all sorts of mystical and pseudo-philosophical aphorisms, mostly in support of the paradoxical conclusion that things like free press and free markets are antithetical to freedom, as well as that laborers should not be paid because it would undermine the brotherly spirit of the Jamahariya. He called this self-created philosophy the "Third Universal Theory,"

- He wrote an op-ed for the New York Times calling for the creation of "Isratine" as a solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict.

When he was younger, he supposedly sought to enter into unions with countries such as Egypt and Syria and, unusually for dictator psychology he would propose that *he* become the nr. 2 "chief of security" in the new unions.

I think he was ENFP. He's like a more looney, less self-confident Mussolini. (Mussolini also rambles and arrives at paradoxical conclusions.) But even moreso than Mussolini, who could be thought to be S (he was very into sports), Gadaffi had the trademark ENFP-thing of always wanting to escape the status quo. To a certain extent all N-doms have this, but none so half-baked as with ENFPs. I am reminded of the Bill Clinton staff meetings, which are descirbed as smart people discussing things for hours, and just when they arrive at a solution, Clinton doesn't want to commit. He goes: "maybe I should have ordered the hamburger instead" - and wants some mysterious "third" solution. All too often with ENFPs, this behaviour is due to deficient thinking (the lowest IQ type of all the iNtuitive types); they cannot (or don't want) to acknowledge the obvious dichotomies between capitalism and socialism (etc.); they dislike having to choose and commit, and this are energized by anything new and prospective.

NTP alert :irked:

i hope for truth's sake you don't honestly link IQ and "deficient thinking". either mental activity or MBTI Thinking.
