Scott MCloud is a cartoonist and theorist of comics as an artistic medium. You probably know him either as the author of Zot! or as the guy who made the book Understanding Comics (one of my favorite nonfiction books).

What's his type? I think he shows signs of Ti (he tries to "mold" several times in his book the definition of "comics", even going so far as to exclude single-panel comics like Family Circus from his neatly defined category); he also seems to have that N-ish view that "art is only constrained by its shape, and even that can be modified".

ENTP is my best guess, though INTJ or INFJ with strong Ti are not out of the question... Thoughts?

I always thought of him as an INTJ. trying to define things and build a system/theory of comics seems more Ni than Ne to me. Also in a few interviews of his I've seen he reminds me of an INTJ I know. But now you mention it I'm not sure I'd be able to distinguish him from a strong Ti INFJ. He's definitely INxJ imo

To be honest, INTJ was my first guess when I pondered his type a while ago. That was from when I thought I was an INTJ, though, so I might just have tried to "create a bond" with someone whose ideas I admired.

When you think about it, though, the "apple" metaphor he uses in his book sounds a bit like the Fi "getting to the core" thing, so you might be on the right track. Thanks for responding, BTW!

Yeah, I've read some of his stuff, the NT aspect is obvious but I haven't really studied his personality in detail. I'm not sure what flavor he is.
