I've only read the first three... I thought they were excellent. But it was more than 14 years ago!
I'd need to re-read (and finish all 8!) to type.
I read them when I was 11-13 and I read them so many times I could probably recite them word for word.
The series sort of lags after "The Furies", but then the last novel "The Americans" is great, the main character Will, very sympathetic, or at least he was to me.

Never read the series, but I certainly know of it.
The more hilarious thing: Jakes also wrote a series of "Conan"-like novels episodic in nature about a character named Brak the Barbarian. (No kidding!)
