My favorite musician.

My guess is ISFP. maybe ISTP. He is such a Physically and artistically talented guitar player. An awesome song writer with a romantic streak.
His lyrics are blatant and rarely metaphorical. They are not rife with symbolism. They are about "Guy" things. Booze, carnivals, waterlines, cars and chicks.

ISFP fits well...
Some of his songs are way too romantic for a "T"...
And we have great guitar players that are ISFP's too, like Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton, for example... ;)

Pretty sure Mark Knopfler is an INFJ (a very healthy one, is and always was). One of my true heroes.
Often confused with ISTPs because of his technical capabilities. His fingerpicking style and overall virtuosity is a result of his obsessive nature, typical for Ni-doms. The dude learned to play on an electrical guitar without an amp because he couldn't afford one. Like he said numerous times, you have to be pretty obsessive to do that.

Arelight said his lyrics are about booze, "guy" things, ... Wrong. "Heavy Fuel" is a sarcastic song about booze, guy things etc.
"Sultans of swing" is also a sarcastic song.
Arelight said his lyrics are rarely metaphorical. Wrong.
Love over gold lyrics :

You walk out on the high wire
You're a dancer on thin ice
You pay no heed to the danger
And less to advice
Your footsteps are forbidden
But with knowledge of your sin
You throw your love to all the strangers
And caution to the wind
And you go dancing through doorways
Just to see what you will find
Leaving nothing to interfere
With the crazy balance of your mind
And when you finally reappear
At the place where you came in
You've thrown your love to all the strangers
And caution to the wind
It takes lover over gold and mind over matter
To do what you do that you must
When the things that you hold can fall and be shattered
Or run through your fingers like dust

In his interviews his Ni-dom is blatant. Vacant stare at a fixed point.
