This is probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

My ENFP friend's brother had it and we decided to watch it, and for the ~45 minutes we watched it we were saying "wow this sucks", so we just turned it off. Lol.

It was really, really boring and the entire premise for us was just dull. When he was remaking movies we would sit there and just comment on how awful it was. Lol, I think we turned it off in the middle of them remaking another movie.

It was funny, especially how horrible the remakes were... But I was actually really more in love with the aesthetic and overall look of the film, rather than the content. Wasn't so big on the actual story, either.

Yeah those were the reasons I couldn't really appreciate it. And aesthetics usually don't do anything for me.

Of course aesthetics do something for you, or else you'd just read a book. Film is a visual medium...

But yeah, going from Fight Club to this film would have required a serious change in outlook and perspective. I think that I wouldn't have been so receptive to Be Kind if I hadn't just woken up and was still in a sleepy state. Your current frame of mind always dictates how you will receive something.

Anyway, yeah, any thoughts on the character types?

One of the reasons I really wanted to do "The Science of Sleep" was not to have to question my ideas on an intellectual level. When I work with other people, I have to use words. It's more limiting to the process to have to convey my ideas that way. If you want to create something, hoping it will go beyond yourself, you can't question every step of the process. It may seem contradictory, but the fact that I'm the only one to make the decisions allows me to have less control of things. I want my instinct to be more in control and my intellect to be less in control, allowing me to have ideas, images, and concepts without having to justify why.

I'm still thinking ENTP. Why do you think introvert?

Well, yeah, but it's a discussion forum and offering a reason (i've been guilty of not doing this one myself) can help people to question their opinions. Just hearing that someone disagrees without having anything else to go on doesn't make me reassess anything.

Also you can look deeper into his films and they are cerebral in a way that we are not. This feeling of being lost without love, always on the search for a perfect union... The quest to understand humanity... The music videos... It doesn't scream ENTP.

I've been thinking about it, and I'm starting to see what you mean. The quest to understand humanity doesn't rule him out, in my opinion, because I have that myself ... I feel completely driven to understand humanity as a whole rather than individual people.


But the way he approaches love does feel foreign to me. I can't pinpoint why though. Hmmm.

Because it's so very idealistic, whereas we tend to be more realistic (after the initial attraction). All of his characters have an inability to move on, to move forward at the sight of failure - this is not something that the collective "we" possess, as an ENTP rule. He very much explores the concept of a single soulmate.
