I watched the last link posted and think Trent's infp. Admits he doesn't really have a plan, asks his buddy next to him how he feels about a question, etc. He seems infp.

I've always seen Trent as INTJ.

Very true. I was into his stuff for a while, but I could never fully respect him, because he did almost everything himself instead of using an actual band.

How could you not respect him because of this?!??!

But this is what INTJs do.

What I meant to say was...I think that deep down Trent is an INFP, but over time he has changed to an INTJ, due to certain events that happened in his life. I'm sure when he's away from interviews, and relaxed he can be very different :)

It shows he values being in control more than he values quality. For example if he cared most about quality he'd use a real drummer instead of a drum-machine.

Look at this guy, no INTJ does this.

Total INFP angst.

He's post-industrial, he's aloud to use a drum machine.

Not at all. That's like saying every single solo artist ever cares more about being in control than making quality music, it just doesn't follow.

I think he really might be an INFP.

And that he is definitely an enneagram 4.

His Fi was/is a godsend for me.

I listen to his lyrics and I hear someone who gets it

Watching all the insects march along
Seem to know just right where they belong
Smears of face reflecting in the chrome
Hiding in the crowd I'm all alone
No one's heard a single word I've said
They don't sound as good outside my head
Looks as though the past is here to stay
I've become a million miles a-

Why do you get all the love in the world?

All the jagged edges disappear
Colors all look brighter when you're near
The stars are all afire in the sky
Sometimes I get so lonely I could

Why do you get all the love in the world?
Why am I always watching from the outside?
On the other side of the glass
Behind the glass.
Always watching everyone,
Separate, watching, always
Don't touch.
This is getting deeper
As time goes by,
The water's getting colder.
Here I am surrounded by people but still all alone,
I am always alone.
Even with myself,
Imprisoned in my head.
And there doesn't seem to be any way out,
And I am so fucking sick of here,
Wish I was there.
Right beside is still
A million miles away.
Behind these bars.
In a rut.
Anyplace else will do.
Hello?
Don't think so.
Broadcasting,
Only static coming in.
No one can hear me when I'm here.

I have been a huge NIN fan for a long time and I don't think it's self-serving of me to type him as an INFP. He's pretty obviously an introvert despite being a dynamic frontman, and I would bet all the money in the world (or all the love in the world, har har har) that he's an F. Weak P, maybe, he does seem J-like sometimes, and I'm not positive about the N either, but in order of likelihood I'd say INFP, ISFP, INFJ.

And his angst, especially in the nineties, was extraordinary. If he's not an INFP he certainly can relate to us.

edit: After watching this video from the last page I am certain he's INFP. He has well-developed defenses but that interview screams INFP. He looks exactly like how I would act and feel in that situation.

Nice and high and far apart
Just like they said
I built this place with broken parts
Just like they said
You chip away the old version of you
You'd be surprised at what you can do
I'm safe in here
Irrelevant
Just like they said

My voice just echoes off these walls

You feel me breathe
I am watching you
I see it all
The many ways you can't get to me
I see it all
I see the Hell you put yourself through
Oh the things I could do (if I wanted to)

My voice just echoes off these walls
My voice just echoes off these walls
I don't need anything at all
My voice just echoes off these walls

And I just slowly fade away

You will never ever get to me in here

I highly recommend listening to this particular song on repeat for at least a couple of hours.

You feel things,

You see things,

Things become okay.

Trent may be slightly control-freak ish but him not having a band makes no difference to the quality of his music, in fact it's probably better. Every single one of his albums are so intricately crafted (especially the fragile and ghosts) that it's so much more BETTER than having a band (does the drummer know the feeling behind a particular song? No) just playing together in a room. Tren't KNOWS what the songs are about, and in someway this also shows through to even the slight twang on a guitar string.

And, in a couple of songs he DID get a drummer in. Dave Grohl played on With Teeth. In fact, With Teeth and the Slip WERE mostly recorded in an opened roomed way. (Probably why I don't like them AS much)

These just SCREAM INFP to me!!!!!!!!

Trent Reznor saved my life.

I was suicidally depressed and his music single-handedly made me feel *not alone*.

A fallen angel.

He gets it

He gets it

He gets it

He gets it

God almighty he gets it, he gets it!

I know. I know so much. You'd think people would trust out judgement, you know, the actual FANS. (Soulfans?)

I've become impossible
Holding on to when
When everything seemed to matter more
The two of us
All used and beaten up
Watching fate as it flows down the path we have chose

You and me
We're in this together now
None of them can stop us now
We will make it through somehow
You and me if the world should break in two
Until the very end of me
Until the very end of you

Awake to the sound as they peel apart the skin
They pick and they pull
Trying to get their fingers in
Well they've got to kill what we found
Well they've got to hate what they fear
Well they've got to make it go away
Well they've got to make it disappear

The farther I fall I'm beside you
As lost as I get I will find you
The deeper the wound I'm inside you
Forever and ever I am a part of

You and me
We're in this together now
None of them can stop us now
We will make it through somehow
You and me
If the world should break in two
Until the very end of me
Until the very end of you

All that we were is gone we have to hold on
All that we were is gone we have to hold on
When all our hope is gone we have to hold on
All that we were is gone but we can hold on

You and me
We're in this together now
None of them can stop us now
We will make it through somehow
You and me
Even after everything
You're the queen and I'm the king
Nothing else means anything

She shines
In a world full of ugliness
She matters
When everything is meaningless

Fragile
She doesn't see her beauty
She tries to get away
Sometimes
It's just that nothing seems worth saving
I can't watch her slip away

I won't let you fall apart

She reads the minds of all the people as they pass her by
Hoping someone can see
If I could fix myself I'd—
But it's too late for me

I won't let you fall apart

We'll find the perfect place to go where we can run and hide
We'll build a wall and we can keep them on the other side
…But they keep waiting
…And picking…

It's something I have to do
I was there, too
Before everything else
I was like you
