Malcolm - ISTJ, Tritype 538 - The Problem Solver
Malcolm is most often typed as an INTP (Just like Sheldon Cooper, also an ISTJ), and I just don't see how. He's extremely intelligent, but possesses no active imagination unless the situation calls for it, which reeks of Dom-Si (not to mention his attraction to finding normalcy and a degree of social convention in his life).
Also, he's clearly an aux-Te, as his most dominant character development theme is taking charge of his life, making ends meet, and making peace with the fact that some things are just beyond his control.
Another indication that he's a Te-User rather than Ti is that people around Malcolm associate him more as the leader than the scientist material. He's clearly the dominant one in his group of equally-nerdy close friends, his brothers seem to primarily value him for his leadership, in the series finale, his mother is absolutely confident he'll become the President of USA at some point in the future, and Malcolm himself admits that his biggest problem with people (see the episode where the boys are trapped in the sewer) is that he feels like he's supposed to control them.
Does any of that sound like a Ti-user?
Lois - ESTJ, Tritype 136 - The Taskmaster
Yeah, this one was a no-brainer. The archetypal strict matriarch.
Hal - ENFP, Tritype 729 - The Peacemaker
And there's your bumbling dad archetype. It's remarkable how often an ENFP and ESTJ end up together, both in fiction and real life, when they're two very incompatible types.
Francis - ENTP, Tritype 793 - The Ambassador
Francis mostly gets typed as an ESTP, but just by looking at his body language, thought process, and general lack of focus or any kind of healthy respect for reality, I'd pretty much have to say he's an Ne-Dom.
Reese - ESFP, Tritype 873 - The Mover/Shaker
A standard bully with a hidden heart of gold, really.
Dewey - INFP, Tritype 497 - The Gentle Spirit
Artistic, independent, wildly imaginative, and a sweetie, even at his scariest , like when he tried to sic a hound at his brothers.
Jamie's too young to type, and I didn't bother to type any character outside of the immediate family.
