    Yeah.

Not sure this will work, finacially speaking - but it's better that than reality shows IMO.

I don’t, and never did... Which can make it hard to connect to people, having few shared cultural experiences, but on the other hand connectable to everyone, because I don’t really fit in any of the usual boxes. I’m okay with that.

I don't really, but I teach some teenagers, so if they want to share their favorite music I always welcome it. I also have a fairly young niece who has awesome taste in music, so she shares info with me.

What's the oddest thing they've shared with you? What about the most obnoxious? (They're not the same.)

    Good questions.

I'd like to expand upon this with my own question for @labyrinthine:

At what point, if one of the teenaged girls began habitually recommending Lana Del Rey songs, would this cease to be such a welcoming, shared experience and actually begin to evoke feelings of concern that there may be disharmony in the home, so much so to actually warrant voicing your concerns to child protective services?

Well, I've had voice students bring in "If I Were A Boy", "Chandelier", "Roar" (which one elementary kid turned into Snore ) The lyrics of those songs in particular leave me face-palming inside, but it also strikes me funny because of the absurdity. I know that bad taste isn't proof of who a person is or what they are capable of doing. I have been teaching and listening to people for years, so I know the routine.

Although no one has brought "Bitch Better Have My Money" yet. I guess if they did, I'd use it as an opportunity to bring up the money they owe me for lessons.

Unfortunately nothing odd (except for most of what is mainstream). I think "If I Were A Boy" was the most actually offensive to me. The words are so messed up on several levels - sounds like something a group of junior high school girls would write at a slumber party.

Pop culture died in the 90's. Stick a fork in it by 2005.
