According to the authors, native born black Americans still "do not - to put it mildly - grow up with a group superiority complex" and that is why so many are unable to escape the cycle of poverty. The same problem exists with white Appalachian residents; they've been mocked, insulted, and subjected to "stereotypes of inferiority - genetic, moral, cultural, intellectual" and so they too are unable to break the cycle of poverty.

The successful groups mentioned above believe they are special or better and they were raised to have very high expectations.

err...OK. Doesn't mean there are more black American dropouts relative to successful/purposeful people...

But don't get phased over an opinion, despite saying plenty of times how "learned and down to earth" you are...

Just an opinion, don't get irked...

Looking at statistics, it's a fact blacks don't prosper to the same extent as other races do.

Black Americans need uplifting, I don't see how that's controversial or contentious to cite...
