Default 2012 Presidential Debates: Round 1

First debate is tonight. Here's a preview of the debate from the guy who helped Romney turn in his first great debate performance against Newt (and was subsequently fired).

The first 30 minutes of the first debate are the most important. That will set in motion the narrative, and help determine whom voters perceive to be winning the debates. It’s hard to recover from a bad first outing. Remember President Bush in 2004, or then–vice president Al Gore in 2000.

Btw, my prediction is that the debate is totally boring and both play it safe. There might be 1 or 2 zingers, but the debate will largely be forgotten and undiscussed on the upcoming Sunday morning news shows.

I just watched the last five minutes of the debate and I'm bored already.

I'm also feeling like Obama's struggling for words more than Romney... at least in that last five minutes about tax cuts.

Speaking performance only, Romney wins. Truth and information are a different matter altogether.

I'm honestly surprised at how well Romney is doing well and how poorly Obama is doing.

For some reason Jim Lehrer keeps giving Romney a hard time. Maybe Mitt shouldn't had led off the debate with getting rid of PBS and consequently Lehrer's job.

You can see Obama ponder and Romney remember. I wonder to which degree these impressions are deliberate.

Well, to give Obama a little credit, he's doing a president's job right now 24/7 + having to prep for a debate. He sounds horribly tired/distracted to me. What's Romney doing right now besides campaigning?

I think they're being natural when it comes to that.

What I'm curious about is why Obama is being so agreeable.
