    Default Post-industrial society

What do you think about this idea? Is it just the labelling of contemporary trends as something more permanent and final?

Industrialism lead to a population explosion and this trend never spontaneously reversed, post-industrialism posits that mass employment, permanent employment, a single job for life which where all characteristics of industrialism are now things of the past. So there are more people than there are jobs and this is not going to change.

If all these premises are correct what does it mean for politics, socialisation (in the sociological sense of the word) and adaptation?
All for ourselves, and nothing for other people, seems, in every age of the world, to have been the vile maxim of the masters of mankind.
Chapter IV, p. 448. - Adam Smith, Book 3, The Wealth of Nations

whether or not you credit psychoanalysis itself, the fact remains that we all must, to the greatest extent possible, understand one another's minds as our own; the very survival of humanity has always depended on it. - Open Culture
