Who exactly is the "Left" here? Also as far as Ive seen everyone in this thread has been pretty rational(except Peguy).

I cant understand why you keep ragging on Peguy, so far as I can tell its the irrational and gut instinct attack, which I've experienced myself, of young liberals on traditionalists. Oh well, everyone needs a folk devil.

The "left" which I was referring to was the comment which was critical of the free market utopianism, it is an imperfect definition but it works for the purpose of the thread.
All for ourselves, and nothing for other people, seems, in every age of the world, to have been the vile maxim of the masters of mankind.

In other words, the "left" is the side that sets up the straw man against Lark's opposition.

More like historical revisionist. People who try and rewrite the past to suit their needs are scum and the people who believe them are idiots. I dont think anyones proposing any sort of Randian Utopia, just that fully privatized healthcare is better than Single Payer or Public Option healthcare. This predictably got sidetracked in to a discussion of free market economics.
