    Was he really a reporter?

I wouldnt like to be randomly filmed either but hey it happens, it gave me a laugh, that old guy totally lost it with those kids and they where like suit/blazer wearing preppy style kids too.

In the UK if you get filmed like that its generally more like that bit in The Brave One where they guys beneath the bridge beat that guy to death and figure the girl is dead too. Sometimes they do it for gang initiations.

Wow, MSNBC is in full spin mode. The slant on this reporting is sub-Fox News. Unsurprising, really.

It's not spin as much as the recognizance that anything coming from Breitbart/NewsBusters and the like has practically zero objective credibility.

No, that was really poor spin. Did you watch the video? Etheridge is lucky he didn't get arrested. To his credit, he came right out and apologized.

A partisan group who is known for trying to bait Democrats and associated groups into compromising situations releases a video, and people question its candor and credibility? That's not spin, that's saying "hey, we've seen this before..."

OK, so where is the issue? No matter where these reporters are from, what Etheridge did was assault. He deserves to be pilloried. That's the end of the story. Attacking the credentials/affiliations of the guy assaulted is the basest, most craven type of spin. It doesn't matter at all. It could have been Dan Rather or al-Jazeera or Stormfront, he still really fucked up. MSNBC should be ashamed of themselves. At least he took responsibility for what he did.

There are two concepts of criminal defense: justification and excuse. He is, as you say, not justified in his actions, and has appropriately apologized for it. However, given the circumstances, the behavior may be excused.

I'm not saying he should have done it, but I understand.
