After watching enough Unsolved Mysteries episodes from the early 90s, I can say that checking a new date for a criminal record is probably prudent and warranted and could save your life.
If you work a job where someone's social media posts matter (first of all, I'm sorry you are stuck with that job), then it could also be prudent if you're responsible for hiring particular attributes.
If you're just stalking around, trying to drum up as much data about someone without their knowledge, you're probably a spider-in-the-dark creep.

Knowledge over someone is advantage over someone, and if you're gobbling it up in the dark impulsively and gleefully, something is not right with you.
