For 300,000 years we heeded the voice of God, the voice we heard was the right side of our brain speaking to the left side, or the imaginative side speaking to the practical side.

We externalised this.inner voice to statues, streams, storms, authority, earthquakes, the wind in the willows, and we settled on continuous subvocal self talk.

As we go on our inner journey through meditation we pass through many stages, when at last all self talk stops, and there we are wide awake with no self talk, probably for the first time in our lives. It is as though a huge weight has been lifted from our shoulders.

Mole you've reading to do the book on the bicameral mind was instantly dated and not even the most ardent athiest considers it a credible source, you should read what the rational optimist blog has to say about it.

Or, you know, just dance, dance, dance instead. Good day sir, what the hades and a last word to you :)

Don't take my word for it, by any means. Try it yourself, put in the meditative work, and when you have stopped your subvocal self talk for awhile, come bsck and share your experience with us.

i take it you aren't a fan of western systems, and instead favor something akin to buddhist thinking...

your dancing thread made it sound like you had something in common with the sufi... there are two ways to achieve the mindset provided by meditation: over stimulation and negation of stimulation... while they are mutually exclusive in any given moment, they are interchangable when practiced seperately... it sounds like you mix and match...

A SciFi TV show is popular, and now everybody is talking about a sketchy 70's theory of human consciousness.
