Do you find an inner journey through music?

Whether it be through lyrics or the sounds?

Please share your "spiritual" music:

I'll get started.

[Intro]
Ooh, ooh can we break the spell on this carousel?
Ooh, ooh

[Verse 1]
Play like little kids eating sugar, getting sick, repeat
I want you, but I don't when the bitter outweighs the sweet

[Pre-Chorus]
We get carried away
At the end of the day, all we have is a memory
Living technicolor dreams 'til we're bursting at the seams
And it all just fades to gray

[Chorus]
We're breaking up and then we're making up again
When we go 'round and 'round on this carousel
We're breaking up and then we're making up again
When we go 'round and 'round on this carousel
On this carousel, on this carousel

[Verse 2]
Loves me, loves me not, leave the flowers there to rot and die
You used to look so bright but you took the stars from my eyes

[Pre-Chorus]
We get carried away
At the end of the day, all we have is a memory
Living technicolor dreams 'til we're bursting at the seams
And it all just fades to gray

[Chorus]
We're breaking up and then we're making up again
When we go 'round and 'round on this carousel
We're breaking up and then we're making up again
When we go 'round and 'round on this carousel
We're breaking up and then we're making up again
When we go 'round and 'round on this carousel
We're breaking up and then we're making up again
When we go 'round and 'round on this carousel
On this carousel, on this carousel

[Outro]
Ooh, ooh, can we break the spell on this carousel?
Ooh, ooh, can we break the spell on this carousel?

Yes, I do. I actually call it a spiritual experience. The best way for me to describe it is it’s like a moment of actually coming alive and finding ‘God.’ I think I’m going to keep the music to myself because it’s very personal for me, but just wanted to share because I relate 100%

This one was a big one for me in particular because it has elements of build up, but just before that a layer of electronic overtones her voice signals a rush of immense feeling.

Towards the end there are heavy vibrations as well.

Stay with me
Won't you wait for me
Care for me
And never say never

Love
You're in my flesh and bone
Where ever you go I'm home
I'll follow you

You're in my head
In my heart
In my soul
Like the air I breathe

You're in my head
In my heart
In my soul
Like the air I breathe

Yes you're my favourite need

I'll follow you
I'll follow you

When everything seems lost
I'm stuck and falling down
You will guide me home
So promise me

You'll stay with me
Won't you wait for me
Care for me
And never say never

No never say never again
No never say never again

(By Kings of Leon)

Always looking down at all I see
Painted faces, fill the places I can't reach

You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody

Someone like you, and all you know, and how you speak
Countless lovers under cover of the street

You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody
Someone like you

Off in the night, while you live it up, I'm off to sleep
Waging wars to shape the poet and the beat
I hope it's gonna make you notice
I hope it's gonna make you notice

Someone like me
Someone like me
Someone like me, somebody

Someone like you, somebody
Someone like you, somebody
Someone like you, somebody

I've been roaming around,
Always looking down at all I see

I prefer this one where she sings over the original (not listed), it brings me to tears much faster.

I'm not spiritual at all - but music is my passion, my emotional outlet, my drug. Different songs move me in different ways. Sometimes it's the melody, a certain set of chords. Sometimes it's the lyrics. Sometimes, the actual words don't matter, but the emotion behind them stands out. So many textures.

Listen to anything by Tom Waits. Ramshackle beauty abounds. Adventure awaits at the bottom of the world. On the downtown train. In dive bars and dreamscapes. A song for all seasons of the psyche - or, if you prefer, the soul.

Bands (or individual artists) that spark thoughts of spirituality in me:
Dead Can Dance
Autumn's Grey Solace
The Church
Loreena McKennitt
Cocteau Twins
Mazzy Star (listening to Hope Sandoval's voice is a spiritual experience)
Blackmore's Night
Patrick O'Hearn

All are from the quieter side of my music library

True story: decided not to date a guy because I showed him a personal song and he reacted poorly to it.

I use music for a lot. Escape, focus, and eliciting emotion.

Too inconvenient to post from a mobile device, but I have a few soundtracks besides the stereotypical Enya esque atmospheric music I like.

funny, there are some bands i use as a gauge of compatibility, though it is only a semi serious part of it all...

I had a moment in high school where I caught a boy during a song looking at me, and I could read the love in his eyes. It didn't work out between us, but I love that song to this day because of how it made both of us feel in that moment.

I played this song for a guy one time. Never again lol. This song is just for me now. Because I take it so seriously. And I know it's childish to expect another guy to feel those emotions in a song. But. I was childish back then ;)

Strong Songs to Transform By

[Verse 1]
Yeah, I forget so often, God, no wonder I feel lost
When I forget where I came from or how I got past
Now we ain’t young, can’t play dumb, the fun and games is done
Damn man, it’s a strange one
Reverend what you say, run, walk this way
By the light of the same sun, that's in the sky where the rain's from
But the clouds make it hard to see him
He's in my brother I discovered that it's not that hard to be him
I just lose him in the P.M., thinking if I had a B.M
I could hang with Mona Lisas like a piece in a museum
Uh, human beings
Deep inside we decide if we free men

[Hook 1: Shad & {Lights}]
Remember to remember
{In the now}
Remember to remember
{I mean it now}
Just remember to remember
{In the now}
Remember to remember
{I see you now}

[Verse 2]
You may have to forgive him forever
Everyday they say life can make you bitter or better
I say "Hey, sacred or not it's all that we got"
Love is what it is, or maybe not what you thought
Woke up one morning started talking to pops
He said "There's lots that you've learned but a lot you forgot
More often than not you don't got to be taught
Just remember to remember how you got to the spot that's hot"
I'm happy and healthy and dreaming and dying
I'm loving and lonely and tired of trying
I’m fall and faded and failing with flying
Colours fumbling forward facing sky
My aim's to entertain and inspire
Walk through the rain and the fire, pay bills keep sane and retire
From the game with a name that's admired
Seeing the stars and aiming higher

[Hook 2: Shad & {Lights}
Remember to remember
{In the now}
Remember to remember
{I feel it now}
Remember to remember
{In the now}
Remember to remember
{I need it now}
Remember to remember
{In the now}
Yeah
{I feel it now}
Remember to remember
{In the now}
Break it down like this...
{I mean it now}

[Verse 3]
Now I ain't ever really been one for image
Ain't trying to fool the public with some stunts and gimmicks
Guys gravitate to blunts and Guinness to get the courage to fight the urge
In 'em, not to succumb to timidness
And this world is fully overrun with mimics
With a penchant for overexposing guns and women
Few deals, funds is limited, folks front to get in the game
That ain't kind, everyone's a critic
But this ain't a race to win, it's a run to finish
And as long as I got breath in my lungs to end it
The enemy isn't the flesh and blood thugs and cynics
We fighting fear and pride for the love within us

[Hook 2]
Remember
{In the now}
Remember to remember
{I see you now}
Remember to remember
{In the now}
Remember to remember
{I feel it now}
Remember to Remember
{I feel it now}
Remember to Remember
{I feel it now}
Remember to Remember
{I feel it now}
Remember to Remember

[Instrumental section—a cappella samples]

[Verse 4]
Break it down, the poor struggle with needs
The rich struggle with greed, this camel struggle to squeeze
Through the eye of a needle, some eyes struggle to see
But we all struggle for freedom
Instead of freeing each other by letting ourselves be
Yeah, and it never ends
We only feel better when we feel like we’re better than
Clever men and our violence
Silence is when we shoot from the lip too quiet
Then we talk non-violence and stay silent when it suits
Really, it’s all violence at the root
The same James Wilks in the booth, but tyrants aren’t tyrants in the group
Who started the shooting? Who knows?
We were all just born inside of this truth
Taught to shoot as youth, taught as just humans being human
But the truth is the truth is bulletproof

[Outro]
Remember to remember

Bitten nails and paper cuts
Careless words and tired looks
It weighs you down
It spins you round
a dream of who you want to be
nearly perfect mistake free
It brings you down
the world spins round

Do you forget who you are
when instinct strays too far
Don’t let the prize become all that you see

Cos we’re not innocent
Not innocent
We’re human
Only human

Well, do you want to know
what it takes to be a stupid man?
I will tell you in just a moment
and I hope that you will understand
that's why I'm nervous
it's disconcerting

All you have to do is write a bassline
and then everybody wants to know your name
they stand beside you and laugh along
then they turn and run away
when you lose your fame,
that's why I'm nervous
that's why I'm nervous

You make me nervous
every time I look at you
I don't know what to do with yourself
I feel as small as a mouse
(x2)

(Repeat from beginning)

Save your twisted enemy
So you might earn forgiveness
You know your whole world is waiting
So why can't you speak?

I feel it coming over me
I'm still a slave to these dreams
Is this the end of everything?
Or just a new way to bleed?

So go and tell all your friends
That I'm a failure underneath
If it makes you feel like a bigger man
But it's my, my heart, my life
That you're calling a lie
I've played this game before
And I can't take anymore

I feel it coming over me
I'm still a slave to these dreams
Is this the end of everything?
Or just a new way to bleed?

By drifting far beyond the edge
Freedom, freedom,
Can't you feel the ground caving in?
Freedom,
Give us a reason to believe again

I feel it coming over me
I'm still a slave to these dreams
Is this the end of everything?
Or just a new way to bleed?

^
This was my get up go to song in early college years

One day I will find you
And I'll finally know what I've been searching for
One day you will see me
Like no others looked upon this face before

Dreams
Beneath the surface there's a world that no one sees
A hideaway where I've got everything I need

You'll shine a light and I'll be brave enough to breathe
To believe to be free

You fill these spaces
Your weakness strengthens these walls
Crawling out from the darkness
My enemy falls

Making noise through the silence
Hearing your call
Crawling out of the darkness
My enemy falls

Crawling out of the darkness

My heart grows stronger
Piece by piece
Whole again

My heart grows stronger
Piece by piece
Whole again

You fill these spaces
Your weakness strengthens these walls
Crawling out from the darkness
My enemy falls

Making noise through the silence
Hearing your call
Crawling out of the darkness
My enemy falls

Crawling out of the darkness
My enemy falls
Crawling out of the darkness

I'm more connected to music than lyrics, which is why I shared instrumentals, but sometimes I can find great meaning or catharsis in lyrics, especially when paired with a particularly powerful piece of music.
