Selling Ourselves and the Socratic Method

The West is based on Ancient Greek philosophy, Judaism, Christianity, and the Enlightenment.

And Ancient Greek philosophy gave as the Socratic Method.

Socrates did not teach us what to think but how to think.

And many here seem to believe Socrates gave us a philosophy of life, something that will console us and help us succeed in life. This is pure special pleading.

Those who make this special pleading have not taken even the first step in Western philosophy, yet they are loud and self confident.

This self confidence is hard to understand until we realise that they are not talking about Western philosophy but they are selling themselves.

And selling yourself is one of the first rules in the creation of social capital. And if you don't sell yourself, no one else will.

Selling yourself and building social capital is the antithesis of the Socratic Method.

So if we are popular here, we are successfully selling ourselves and building social capital. And if we are unpopular, we are practising the Socratic Method.
