Victor=Victory=Unlimited power=Control

Rather, Victor loves creativity, empathy and presence.

And creativity, empathy and presence are the fruits of the limitation of power.

And we become what we love.

And that is the existential victory that makes it all worthwhile?

My thoughts exactly.

Ideally, power should make us, well, more powerful.

That means there's more stuff we can do. If you ask me, that sounds like freedom rather than restriction.

Also, this reminds me a bit of the Sith Code:
Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion I gain strength.
Through strength I gain power.
Through power I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

Ideally, power should make us, well, more powerful.

Over history we have learnt from bitter experience that power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

So we don't abolish power, rather we limit power with liberal democracy.

And intuitively the idealists tell us power should make us more powerful, while ignoring the potential for corruption.

So what do we say?
- Democracy is the worst system except for all the rest -.

And this is anathema to the idealists who are the most dangerous people in the world.
