Aporia: difficulty determining the truth of an idea due to equally valid arguments for and against it.

What I'm curious about is if you have personally experienced this and with what ideas? What were the arguments for and against?

Yes. Examples include:

Does life inherently have meaning?
Is there a God?
Do humans truly have free will?

Some of these ideas fall outside the realm of pure philosophy and more into politics. Here, ethics and personal opinions come into play and it's no longer just about logical truth. Still I'm curious if there are political issues you have trouble siding with because the arguments from both sides are both convincing?

There are several political issues that are like that for me. One example would be "Should the minimum wage be raised?" When I first heard about this, my initial reaction was "Of course, duh!" As I read more and more about the issue, I realized that those against it made some valid points. So now I'm on the fence about this.

Immigration is another such issue.

On the other hand there are issues that I firmly side with even though I understand the logic behind the opposing view. I'm all for the US having universal health care and making gay marriage legal.

I'm curious, what issues you just can't seem to come to a firm stance on and what issues you firmly side with and struggle to fathom believing the opposite?

Interestingly, "aporia" means "perplexity" in Attic.

I find it difficult to determine the morality of abortion.
