Literacy privileges the eye. Literacy privileges the visual sense and forces the other senses into the unconscious.

But today the electronic media is making the unconscious, conscious and bringing to life the proprioceptive sense.

The proprioceptive sense is our sense of dance and here we are discovering our proprioceptive sense.

Well, I mean, unless you read braille.

A common mistake is to think we are reading text now, when in fact we are reading etext (electronic text).

Of course text is the son of the printing press of 1440 while etext is the daughter of the electric telegraph of 1840.

And like all children they have their own personalities.

Text is individual and visual and gives us perspective and the unconscious and linear, sequential logic.

While etext is tribal and aural, olfactory, proprioceptive, haptic, visual and gives us the global village and makes the unconscious, conscious and gives us circular, stochastic logic.

Text gives us Classical Mechanics while etext gives us Quantum Mechanics.

Text gives us Absolute Time and Space while etext gives us Relative Time and Space.

But like all siblings text and etext are mutually inhibitory.

And so like the Gods of Olympus, text and etext play out their rivalry with we mere mortals.

Those who worship inductive and inferential logic clash at night on a dark plain with those who worship circular, stochastic logic.

And by the light of day we count the bodies.
