Has anyone ever considered the sorts of people who support authoritarian causes or policies, often extremist ones, and how they are likely to impact upon themselves and others.

For a long time I've observed the popularity of extremely fascistic parties or policies with certain sections of delinquent youth, the irony being that they cant cope with the expectations of liberal democracies but think they could manage in a context to total, even totalitarian, law enforcement.

Has anyone else observed anything like it and what does it make you think?
