I really disagree, this is probably what a liberal would do but typical social-democratic leftist wouldn't. The thing is that liberals like market and improvisations while people more to the left are pretty anti-market when it comes to education and healthcare. In other "industries" it is ok but the most basic things have to be guaranteed. Therefore such person would at least make a law that regulates the max prices, in order to prevent rip offs. However if they are for real they would organize free college for such professions to make sure that enough of them are trained and that they don't think about ripping people off, but instead focus more on their primary job which is helping people. Especially since specialized institutions would be set up and the whole thing would be paid through universal healthcare system. So that every child regardless of their parents and their lives can get this since this is too important (summer or no summer).

Just saying.

If they want all this socialism, they need to do some price fixing. Some of these places that do it, like Japan, don't have enough doctors. That's the way it has to be though.

I took it twice, since the questions are poorly phrased & multiple answers could be equally applicable:

Just let me live alone on that cat sanctuary island near Greece. I’ll start my own human-free govt.
That’s where I’m at on the political spectrum.

If that happens that is usually because of two reasons, organization wasn't on the level. Or someone is dismantling the system deliberately.
Btw. japan is more of a liberal country than socio-democratic country. What was kinda my point, you are mixing left and liberal. But ok.

In the end, a liberal and leftist will give you the same thing - more regulations, more taxes, forms to fill out, price increases and hurdles to jump through.

Preventing school choice, banning straws, and taxing cow farts probably doesn't make most people more free. The more sane policies cause problems too, imo.

Last year, at the start of the school year, my daughter's teacher said that my daughter's speech was impeding his social development. We were told to go through the school system for speech therapy. It took 2 months just for her to be seen for an evaluation. This was pre-covid, so that was standard. The school system officially decided at the end of the school that they would accept her into speech therapy, but they can't start until fall, cause school is out in the summer. So this is standard too, to let a child who needs speech therapy go all summer and start a new school year without providing ongoing therapy. It's a big deal beyond social development too. It hinders learning math and all sorts of things. So, I paid out-of-pocket and she got 6 speech therapy sessions this summer. She is so much easier to understand and it's made her life much better. I'm still trying to get speech therapy through the school. The speech therapist just messaged yesterday and said that I need to fill out more forms, but she's not sure which ones. lol. When that's all straightened out, my daughter will have virtual sessions with the school speech therapist. That's not as good as in-person. My daughter thinks she's playing when she goes to speech therapy normally.

A typical leftist would probably suggest making it so that poor kids should be provided speech therapy over the summer too, to even out things. What would wind up happening is that it will increase the prices of speech therapy for everyone across the board, so that I can't afford it anymore. Then no one will get adequate speech therapy over the summer. It'll just be crappier for everyone. I know that's not ever the intent. That's what happens though.

^Sorry about this long-winded thing here. It's just what's on my mind right now.

It's very unfair, to even the people who can afford to get transportation elsewhere.

Please stop calling liberals leftists. I don't agree with a single policy you discussed above and I'm a leftist, not a liberal. Liberals are all about incremental, means tested solutions not meant to help anyone, by design.

It's so fucking maddening, people critique these policies put in place by conservative governments and liberals that insist on something resembling normal developed country services so they parents get thrown some scraps and get told by Republicans and Democrats - be happy with what you have and don't discuss wanting more ever again.

They won't even give a social-democratic policy a chance. It's just easier to complain and continue to be frustrated I guess.

Well my comment was side remark since I really didn't agree with your claim. The trigger was that my mother didn't have the problem with me that you now seem to have with your children, regarding the speech exercises. However I didn't come here to debate things in detail. Although you again are kinda mixing liberal and socio-democratic, what is probably because you live in the country/environment where there is no socio-democracy or it minimal. To me calling democratic party left would be a blasphemy, since they are evidently liberal party.

Personally I don't remember when was the last time I had to fill in the form regarding the healthcare. While the biggest medical bill I ever payed is something like 150$ in out of pocket money. What was quite expensive in my book since often I pay stuff between 0$ and 10$ in direct payment (surgery included). Here the concept of medical bankruptcy simply doesn't exist. Plus I tend to like regulations since that is foundation of consumer protection (medicine or something else). Therefore I simply don't agree with general claim that system always works against you. It certainly can but that isn't set in stone. What is basically the core difference between modern liberalism and classic socio-democracy.

Just a thought. I don't want to drag this through thread even if it is kinda political.

In a practical sense, we only have two choices, democrat or republican. So, I see this as a straight line between the two things. The further right you go, the less government. The further left is more government. I am categorizing ideology and not people.

I understand not wanting to be associated with everything the party does. I consider myself a Libertarian and didn't like being called a Republican when Mitt Romney was running. I did think Libertarianism was special and not the same. The Republican party was a real embarrassment at the time, imo and not representative of my beliefs. Sorry about that. I didn't mean to stick a bee in anyone's bonnet.

The thing is that alot of these questions were not really 'life choices' but various types of hypothetical preferences.
Some poorly phrased stuff but that's not too surprising. Yeah the results are ABOUT (+/- 30% ) right even though they do not reflect my actual politics that much. I think governements can go f. themselves mostly and are not much better than thugs ethically speaking. So yeah. Let us say I strayed far from my genetic predisposition.

I am basically socially liberal and conservative economically. Trump sucks. Anybody would be better than this dumb ass The republican party that I mostly aligned with in the past has lost its way.
