I kinda like the Nine description, at least in how all of it applies pretty closely to me:

C. I seem to be able to see all points of view pretty easily. I may even appear indecisive at times because I can see
advantages and disadvantages on all sides. The ability to see all sides makes me good at helping people resolve their
differences. This same ability can sometimes lead me to be more aware of other people's positions, agendas, and personal
priorities than of my own. It is not unusual for me to become distracted and then to get off task on the important
things I'm trying to do. When that happens, my attention is often diverted to unimportant trivial tasks. I have a hard time
knowing what is really important to me, and I avoid conflict by going along with what others want. People tend to
consider me to be easygoing, pleasing, and agreeable. It takes a lot to get me to the point of showing my anger directly
at someone. I like life to be comfortable, harmonious, and others to be accepting of me.

I think it's really interesting in reading this today, since I'm pissed off about something to the degree of actually talking about it bluntly... but even just expressing my disagreement and allowing myself to sound angry is unsettling to me. I feel out of sorts and without a clear sense of balance, like the floor keeps moving around under me as if it atop a ball. I can't get my bearings. I don't like that, even if I know I'm human and do sometimes have opinions.

When I voice a strong opinion, I like to have all the points logically and reasonable at my fingertips and be able to explain exactly why my stance is valid and accurate.

I'm supposedly a combination of 496. It's interesting because I've assumed for a long while now that I may have some 3 tendencies in me, hence typing as a 4w3, but I relate very strongly to the 5 description. I'm not so overly dogmatic about achievement like a 3, but maybe it's because the 9 in my tritype dilutes it somewhat? I'm very introverted to where I need my alone time in order to spend some time daydreaming away from the real world for a while. It's crucial for me, thus the 5 description fits the bill. I don't relate to the 6 description of loyalty and being hyper aware of safety and whatnot. But isn't the enneagram based on desires/fears rather than behavioral patterns? I've been oscillating between being 496 or triple withdrawn. Perhaps maybe I am the latter? Ehh, whatever at this point. All I know for certain is that I am most definitely a core 4 with both 3 and 5 tendencies.

So either, 825 (the Strategist) or 125 (the Mentor). I usually score highly in the entire instinctual triad, so this was no surprise, but since I know I am more rational and idealistic than powerful and dominant, I say 125.
