TBF the strength scale is kind of a mess; even if you omit the obvious body mass to weight lifted ratio. A military press is a good indication of overall upper body strength; but the 2/3 of a bench press is bullshit; different (and awkward) biomechanics, and the press not being susceptible to mass moves mass. Also the last option is 18kgs off of one of the old Olympic press records. One as in its more then all the other weight class records. I wonder exactly what percentage do they want to get 18 in a stat; because that's probably not far off one in 500 million scenario.

well, it's obviously not a scientific poll AND it is a scale taken from a fantasy RPG which means it's not realistic especially in the upper ranges... it's just meant to provide some kind of in-the-ballpark baseline without overcomplicating determining what one can do in a game.

All I have to do to have an 18 STR in AD&D is:

1. roll 18 on 3d6 (0.463%)
2. roll 18 on 4d6, drop lowest (1.620%,)
3. Up a high strength during my free ability boosts every four levels
4. Use magic items that increase my STR in 2-point increments

IRL, it's far more complicated.

On the strength questions I used "No" as a surrogate for "I don't know and I can't be arsed to find out" for my responses

STR: 12 - Easier to pull up a lighter frame, but then I can plank for over five minutes if I feel like it. Alright.
INT: 17 - Five questions on language but only one each on math and "puzzles"? Hmm. Still, the INT scores are always inflated.
WIS: 14 - Being generally irritable and arguing online must drag my score down, ha. Almost counteracts my perception, I guess.
DEX: 17 - Replace 4/5 ball juggling with picking locks and I'll max this. I suppose I am actually really coordinated IRL.
CON: 13 - Not big on running but I enjoy cycling during the good season and haven't been sick in years. Alright.
CHR: 11 - Being attractive appears to have pulled my charisma out of the fire. Good thing it's not based on Big 5 agreeableness.

Some of these criteria seem rather dubious while others compensate in funny ways. I always do enjoy these though.
