I doubt you could tell from a quiz alone, I also think its hard to tell about psychopathy and sociopathy since some of the traits have strong cross over with the more popular personality disorders (which I think are almost epidemic). Also the dominant social character demanded by the economy and society most of the world possesses.

Even when its highly adaptive to have that kind of character I dont conform too well to it.

I only checked off 3 things on the list:

- “Trouble holding down a job” — vague indicator. I assume the test uses this to measure ‘trouble w/authority’ or something. In my case, ‘trouble holding down a job’ is a relatively recent issue, specifically caused by physical health issues. Never had difficulty obtaining or keeping a job before then.


- “You are very good at manipulating people and situations.” — I believe that I have the capacity to do this if I actually felt compelled to, but I never have.


- “You have a fairly high IQ” — On IQ tests administered by professionals in school/college/by a psychologist, I’ve tested within the 97th percentile (somewhere in the high 120s-lower 130s; score is not static, but range tends to be). Technically “gifted” category, but not enough to join any ‘high IQ societies.’
I’m really an idiot most of the time.
(I could go on a rant about how limiting IQ tests are in terms of measuring the abilities of an organ we don’t even fully understand yet, & how, outside the academic realm, I’ve really only seen the result used as a personal enhancement tool in pissing contests— but I’m sure that’s been said enough on the forum over the yrs)


That said, high IQ isn’t an indicator of sociopathy. Whoever created this test has watched too many movies. Intellectually brilliant sociopaths like Ed Kemper are the minority among people w/ASPD. Most of them are more along the lines of Dennis Rader or Gary Ridgway. Average to low IQ. They don’t stand out, in most cases. There are bright, high-functioning people w/ASPD you’ll never hear about, who have learned how to live within the legal bounds of society (usually high corporate positions, etc), but they’re still the minority, statistically.

Most of the items on this checklist fit the criteria for a number of other psych conditions that have nothing to do w/ASPD. It’s a Venn diagram, of sorts. If you tested higher, you may have some ‘issues,’ but you’re probably not suffering from ASPD— unless you checked off some of the highly specific ones (cruelty to animals, for instance).

This is a lake that I can sweep my toes through but am not sentenced to swim in. I have imagined what submersion would feel like though, for I know that there are identical but corupt creatures lurking below the surface. One mustn't dangle for too long, lest you be pulled under too, where your eyes are not adjusted to the darkness and your lungs ill-equipped to sustain breath.

"Post script": They're mostly just bored and lustful, "unrestricted" by empathy and remorse, but restricted by everything else that they are. Tragic, really.
