I'm aware of a better socialist typology than this one, it was a square divided into four sections or quadrants which were libertarianism, egalitarianism, rationalism, moralism, its author, R N Berki, suggested that egalitarianism-moralism was one axis and rationalism-libertarianism the other, egalitarianism-moralism was close to some varieties of conservatism, because it generally was traditionalist, collectivist, while the rational-libertarianism one was closer to varieties of liberalism, including neo-liberalism, because it valued freedom and individualism the most.
Berki thought that the egalitarianism-moralism variety was more popular in the UK, as the labour party was "more methodist than marxist", also that marxism itself was closer to the rational-libertarianism axis, in theory though not in practice, although he was pretty fair in suggesting that most marxism in practice, whether it was a state or a local branch of some party was usually wide of the mark and inconsistent with what Marx himself thought about things.
Its an interesting typology because both axis can as easily feed into conservatism rather than socialism, whether in the cultural or neo-liberal varieties and I think the conservative party has been far better at appealing to those tendencies among the public and the voters than labour, mind you they own the media, have deep state sympathisers and it all adds up to pretty marvelous manipulations, so its not just a failure of the left to make themselves known and understood.
