Captain Nemo
Good, Human, Roundabout Thinker

You are basically good. Overcoming selfish desires or cruel ways, you focus on doing the right thing, when possible, and acting in a way to benefit everyone. You recognize your human weaknesses and imperfections, and are able to respond to them in well balanced ways. You think in ways most people don’t understand. Some might call you mad, but there is a method to your madness.

Captain Nemo is the man who rules the sea. His powerful submarine, the Nautilus, is a perfect vehicle to match his powerful intellect, and the matchup is easily understood why; it was designed by his mind, and so the enigmatic engine is as strange and fantastical as the unreadable mind that brought it forth. A castaway by choice, Nemo has sworn off contact with the human race he has come to mistrust and despise, and with good reason. Still, to those who he realizes have done no true wrong, he extends mercy and even protection, and still nurses the hope that one day man will overcome his own imperfections. The tortured Captain remains in wait for that day, at the bottom of the sea.

You think about various angles of something, and you calculate the best way to achieve goals.
Kind, generous, and even motherly, Wendy serves as the only mother the Lost Boys have ever known. Strong willed, still, but ready for adventure, Wendy is both child and woman, and slowly bridging the gap in her own life. She is quick witted and can come up with new ways of helping the situation along, often in ways that had never be thought of before.

I do think a man wrote this test, though. I don't understand why Daisy Buchannan is Dark but Jay Gatsby is Good. They're both from The Great Gatsby, and both are obsessed with money and status. Same with Becky Sharp, who is classified as Dark.

A man apparently can do whatever he wants to get ahead in the world, but a woman better not.

On the other hand, both Jay Gatsby and Hamlet are listed as Epic, which in my interpretation of this test is a very egotistical person, which is just as bad as being willful, just in a different way.

I mean the most "evil" answers are probably characters which are classified as both Dark and Epic.

Jay Gatsby was only concerned about money and status as long as it brought him closer to his true obsession, Daisy Buchanan. But I would agree, that he is more of a dark character, purely because of his single-minded obsession, which was incredibly selfish.
I do not, however, thing that this has anything to do with the gender of the author of this test. If anything, it's his understanding of the characters, the arguably faulty parameters of the test and simple matter of opinion which shapes the results. You are reading a little too much into it.

He wasn't just obsessed with Daisy he was a liar and a bootlegger who didn't drink (like a drug dealer who sells drugs for the money, knowing what it does to other people, but doesn't take the drugs himself). Yes, he wants Daisy, but he still wants money.

Daisy wants money too, but it's perfectly understandable that a woman would want money and security in a time when women didn't have jobs of their own, and not only that, but Daisy actually married Tom because of giving up on waiting for Gatsby.

So both of their motives are understandble, but dark or selfish on some level none-the-less. Same with Becky Sharp from Vanity Fair as Gatsby...she was born without wealth and status, and worked her whole life, by hook or crook, to get it like Gatsby did...though obviously she did bad things on the way.

Of course I'm going to read more into this - I was an English Lit major. LOL.

It happens to be one of my personal obsessions, analyzing characters from literature.

Tom Sawyer is the youth in all of us; he biggest desire is to laugh and play all day, and pure adventure is his biggest vice. His cleverness can get him into plenty of mischief and trouble, but even those who must punish him, also must admit that it is also what endears him so much to so many people. He is admired and enjoyed by all, and even when his sense of fun dictates he must take advantage of them, he has a sense of honor and nobility that cannot be denied, even if he tries at times.

You are basically good. Overcoming selfish desires or cruel ways, you focus on doing the right thing, when possible, and acting in a way to benefit everyone. You think like a champion. Regardless of your skills, you strongly feel you can use them to their greatest ability. Your persona is indomitable, you are a true believer. You think straightforwardly. You don’t feel you need to weigh too many options, neither do you feel the need to plan to far ahead, but instead take the simplest and straightest path toward your goals.

Tarzan is the invincible, mighty, powerful being who roams the jungles of wood and of steel for the benefit of his protectorate. Under his vigilant watch, no harm can betide those he cares for, and those who cross his path with foul intent are in for some equally foul surprises. His has no doubts, and his faith in himself is so strong that his weaknesses disappear. What he wants he can take, and very little can stop him; though his power could never be misused for anything less than noble in purpose.

You are dark. While not necessarily evil, your choices in life are fueled by darker and more negative motives. You recognize your human weaknesses and imperfections, and are able to respond to them in well balanced ways. You think in ways most people don’t understand. Some might call you mad, but there is a method to your madness.

In the dangerous balance between curiosity and ambition, Griffin finds himself on the cutting edge of a scientific breakthrough. Intelligent by nature and brilliant by trade, he ultimately grants himself too much power, and becomes one of the first true mad scientists. Pride is his vice, and while he has earned some form of respect, he takes it too far and becomes all the darker for it. If only he would humble himself and revert to humanity, his assets could be a joy for the world and all mankind, but the convuluted illusions of grandeur in his head are too much for him to handle.

The young girl who finds herself down the rabbit hole or through the looking glass, has proven that above all, she has quite an imagination. Always on the move to a strange new encounter, she will always be the odd one out in a world of strange characters. She wants only the adventures that everyone secretly longs for, and in her own mind she can always achieve them, and easily return to the real world when the dream is over.

Strong willed and always moral, Elizabeth is a smart girl who will stand for nothing out of conduct. Unwaveringly loyal to propriety, and always a lover of generousity, she can make the mistake of assuming the worst on someone because of their background. Even is she is quick to assume, she is willing to remedy, and will always reward the honorable actions of those around her.

Gatsby wants the idea of Daisy, and is unable to relate to the reality of Daisy as another person. One of the story's major themes is that Jay Gatsby pursues the fantasies that he creates in his own mind, so much so that he only ends up being able to relate to the fantasy world, completely oblivious to what Nick Carraway perceives to be reality - a perception that most of his upper-class associates share.

A ravishing beauty who would be willing to wait for love, if it didn't take so long, or if it might grant her more money. She wants to be in love, and says she will wait; but when it comes down to patience, she just doesn't have it, plus her avarice is strong enough to sever bonds of romance. She is a pretty straight forward thinker, and will go for the easiest route to gain her desires.

Consumed with revenge, Prospero uses all his abilities, his resources, and his mental capacities to create the most epic scheme he can, in revenge. However justified, his original goal is of a dark nature, and it's luck more than his planning that makes it end happily. He, his enemies, and his allies are all driven by the most human of emotions, and even his meddling with their affairs stems from an oh so human desire to design events in ways he would like them to be. At times negligent of the deepest feelings of those around him, he nevertheless pursues his goals and does eventually seek and attain redemption for what wrongs he committed in the name of revenge.
