Some of you may remember the Duniho and Duniho Life Pattern Indicator from the 1990's. I wrote it in C, and I got it compiled to run on various computer platforms. I also tried collecting data to improve the questions, but people had to email it to me, and the data I needed only tricked in. The old C version of the DDLI is now obsolete, because I have rewritten it in PHP, and I'm relying on a MYSQL database to collect the data I need. Now all I need is for people of all types to start taking it, so that I'll have enough data to analyze the reliability of the questions and weed out the bad ones. The new version is online at The Duniho and Duniho Life Pattern Indicator Version 4.0. Note that you need an OpenID to sign in. If you don't know what that is, details are in the FAQ. I have also added a little gadget at the top of the page to help you share the news about the DDLI. If you like it, please take a moment to tell your friends and social networks about it.

Using a decision procedure that ranks the relative strength of your preferences, the best estimate of your type is INTJ.

I skipped some questions since I can't relate to any of the options listed.

It looks like you got some debugging code I forgot to take out. I missed it because my own scores weren't conflicting. I have now put comments around it. You should have gotten a more human readable display down below. Did you get that?

The regular MBTI part gave me INFJ, but that conflicted with my cognitive processes scores (which I have to say were extremely bizarre--Fe-Ti-Si-Ni), and so it wouldn't assign me a type, even after I adjusted my answers.

Neat :popc1:

This sort of test format is definitely better than "forced choice" response tests.

Two types were calculated for you with equal probability: XXXP and XXXJ. This should rarely happen unless you've skipped several questions, because backup decision procedures were used to resolve ties, and even these proved inconclusive. To know which type is a better fit, go back and answer more questions or reevaluate your earlier answers. Here are your more detailed results, preference by preference.

Introversion: 10 / 11
Extraversion: 28 / 11

Perceiving: 29 / 15
Judging: 25 / 15

Dominant Judger: 19 / 11
Dominant Perceiver: 14 / 11

Introverted Sensing: 10 / 6
Extraverted Sensing: 5 / 6

It's odd how you managed to get INTJ with those cognitive processes. I wonder if there's more to the scoring system than meets the eye. Maybe the number next to a cognitive process and how that number compares to the rest isn't a direct indication of your cognitive function use. There might be more questions for some functions than others, for example, and hence a higher likelihood of getting strong scores for those.

I don't know. Would you care to enlighten us, fduniho?

I got the same. But it also gave me these results:

Here are your more detailed results, preference by preference.

Introverted Thinking: 15 / 4
Extraverted Thinking: 0 / 4

Introverted Feeling: 19 / 8
Extraverted Feeling: 9 / 8

I don't understand why there's two sets of results... Or what the second numbers mean.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, it says this as well:

For some reason it says my answers don't add up....looking at the scores, it seems obvious I am INFP!!! I'm an introvert, a Ji-dom, a perceiver (Pe type), tert-Si, and Fi-dom. My Ne & Ni seem equal (but I think it's all Ne), and I score higher on Ti than Te for some reason.

Your scores are not in full agreement regarding your type.

Opposing preferences are paired together. The numeric scores give the raw score divided by the number of questions answered for each pair. The preferences you scored higher on are in boldface, and the preferences matching the type you scored as are underlined. Green bars indicate preferences in alignment with your estimated type. Red bars indicate non-preferences that do not match your estimated type. Blue bars indicate a conflict between your preferences and your estimated type. The length of each bar represents the relative strength of each preference.

Intuition: 34 / 17
Sensing: 12 / 17

The tie between introverted and extroverted intuition is strange though.

I love how it should 'rarely' happen, even though half of the people who posted their scores on here got the same answer. :D

fduniho, out of curiosity, does your test 'pay as much attention' to tertiary and inferior functions as it does the dominant and auxiliary when trying to decide a type? (Not that it matters so much in my case..)

Also: very cool how this test saves your results through OpenID.

It's odd how you managed to get INTJ with those cognitive processes. I wonder if there's more to the scoring system than meets the eye. Maybe the number next to a cognitive process and how that number compares to the rest isn't a direct indication of your cognitive function use. Actually, as far as my results are concerned, the results themselves are consistent--using the INTJ functions (Ni, Te, ...) and getting the INTJ dichotomies.

As far as how I got those results, I also answered a lot of questions in favor of logic, e.g.
Which is more important for you to maintain in your relations with others?
Truth and honesty
Love and affection

Which better fits how you see yourself?
Idealistic
Intellectual

But then, others I answered in favor of Feeling:
When you have spoken less than the whole truth to a friend, is your motivation more often:
An awareness of likely consequences
A concern to not give offense

Which is more important to you?
To treat those close to you with kindness
To treat everyone fairly

Which is more natural for you when dealing with other people?
To be aware of what works or doesn't work (cause/effect); in people relationships
To be aware of your empathy (or anger); toward people

Questions like this, I never have any idea how to answer (but I understand why they're there):
Do you more often let
Your head rule your heart
Your heart rule your head

I'm going to have to play around with this and see whether boosting Fe above Te yields a different answer :cheese:
yum, internal logical structures of things

It looks like I have some debugging to do. I will have to write some code that let's me view other people's results. I will get on that when I can, but right now, I have a long work day ahead of me.

That'd be great. As far as the nature of the questions, this test is one of the best that I've seen.

I'm not sure how much merit there would be in trying to validate your test by incorporating individuals' self-reported types--as many of them (including mine) might be "wrong" and thus may skew data--but it might be worth some thought.

Others might disagree, but perhaps some clarification on some of the questions might be useful--"head" over "heart," for example--unless individuals should go with their initial gut feeling on questions like this.

Mine worked. *shrug* ;)

Taken together, your scores indicate that you are an INTP. Although there is no conflict between your scores, some were insufficient to fully determine your preferences. Here are your more detailed results, preference by preference.

Introversion: 24 / 11
Extraversion: 15 / 11

Intuition: 60 / 17
Sensing: 0 / 17

Thinking: 55 / 19
Feeling: 8 / 19

Perceiving: 56 / 16
Judging: 3 / 16

Dominant Judger: 28 / 11
Dominant Perceiver: 8 / 11

Introverted Sensing: 7 / 6
Extraverted Sensing: 13 / 6

Introverted Intuition: 8 / 5
Extraverted Intuition: 14 / 5

Introverted Thinking: 16 / 5
Extraverted Thinking: 3 / 5

Introverted Feeling: 14 / 11
Extraverted Feeling: 19 / 11

Not sure why my S scores were flipped, but they weren't far apart.
