what's the most accurate MBTI test that's free?

I get different results from all the MBTI tests I take, and some of them ask seemingly ridiculous questions. Can anyone recommend a good, comprehensive test that I can take for free (online)? Thanks!

Here is a link to what purports to be the Official MBTI test that someone posted on Helloquizzy, I'm not sure what version it is.

Thanks for this, pippi. I didn't know there was a [semi-]official test online. I'll be giving this one to people now instead of the three-choice test floating around.

A few people did it over at INTJf, seemed to give them their types accurately (they weren't all INTJs btw). If it is the "real" test then I assume it's not exactly kosher for someone to post it online so the link might disappear soon.

What I noticed about that test is the uptick in clarity of preference.
It gave me the strongest ENTJ I have ever seen.

E= 16 I= 5
S= 4 N= 22
T= 22 F= 2
J= 16 P= 6

Anyone else get more pronounced preferences than usual?
I'm usually more balanced in preference than this test suggests.

Right. I'll try to get in as many as I can before they take it down.

I just took it and got INTJ. No surprise there; every test I take nowadays says INTJ. Preferences were:

E=2 I=19
S=2 N=24
T=14 F=10
J=12 P=10

The E/I and S/N preferences are correct. I'm very IN. The J/P score is a little closer than it usually is. It asked a lot of questions about actually scheduling things, and I rarely do any of that; I'm more J in mind. For T/F, I think it was the questions that asked you to choose between adjectives like practical/sentimental and strong-willed/tenderhearted. Since I am such a strong J, I chose the former slightly more than the latter. My true preferences are all very high, with F slightly less pronounced than the others but still significant.

I'd suggest just reading up on Jung's functions and the common characteristics of each type instead of looking for "more accurate" tests, because all of them kind of suck, honestly.

Your preferences might not be as clear as you think. The scale for the letters isn't obvious, it appears that there are more N/S and T/F questions based on this:

Addendum: You can also determine your Preference Clarity Category, that is, how consistently you prefer one pole of a dichotomy over the other.

If E or I is between 11-13, preference is SLIGHT

If E or I is between 14-16, preference is MODERATE

If E or I is between 17-19, preference is CLEAR

If E or I is between 20-21, preference is VERY CLEAR

If S or N is between 13-15, preference is SLIGHT

If S or N is between 16-20, preference is MODERATE

If S or N is between 21-24, preference is CLEAR

If S or N is between 25-26, preference is VERY CLEAR

If T or F is between 12-14, preference is SLIGHT

If T or F is between 15-18, preference is MODERATE

If T or F is between 19-22, preference is CLEAR

If T or F is between 23-24, preference is VERY CLEAR

If J or P is between 11-13, preference is SLIGHT

If J or P is between 14-16, preference is MODERATE

If J or P is between 17-19, preference is CLEAR

If J or P is between 20-21, preference is VERY CLEAR

Details like this would be why doing MBTI tests online without digging into the methodology ends up mistyping people or leading them astray often.

My results were:
1 E, 20 I
4 S, 22 N
23 T, 1 F
15 J, 7 P

0 = Extraversion,
21 = Introversion,
2 = Sensing,
24 = Intuition,
1 = Thinking,
23 = Feeling,
0 = Judging
22 = Perceiving

My only problem is the more I take these tests the more I wonder if my answers are being warped by what I know already about the test and about my type. I think I'm getting prejudiced due to the fact that my scored keep getting higher... :p

You scored 8 on Extraversion,
You scored 13 on Introversion,

You scored 1 on Sensing,
You scored 25 on Intuition,

You scored 6 on Thinking,
You scored 18 on Feeling,

You scored 15 on Judging,
You scored 7 on Perceiving

i'm usually a little more on the T side than this indicates. i found the "choose which word appeals to you" difficult because i don't always like the way i am, so sometimes how i am NOT appeals more to me..........

yah. perhaps. i really tried not to think very hard about any of them. i think it goes better that way. i like the one word format for that reason. sometimes actual questions make me ponder too long.

I got:
INFJ

3 Extraversion, 18 Introversion
2 Sensing, 24 Intuition
12 Thinking, 12 Feeling
12 Judging and 10 Perceiving
This test doesn't seem very accurate, though, even if it is a copy of the "official" one. One of the things I noticed (to give an example) is that the Feeling/Thinking questions were biased toward measuring Te and Fe. Someone could have strong Fi with weak Fe, and they could still come out as a strong Thinker.

Your preferences might not be as clear as you think.

I should have worded my post differently.
The test suggests my preferences are clear, but I know otherwise.

That test makes me look like I have weak S preferences, which is ridiculous.
I value both S and N.

Now if that test is measuring Fe rather than Fi, it is accurate.
Fe is my worst function.
The word "consensus," gives me diarrhea. :D

LOL - INTP

Compared to other takers
You scored 10 on Extraversion, higher than 60% of your peers
You scored 11 on Introversion, higher than 36% of your peers
You scored 1 on Sensing, higher than 9% of your peers
You scored 25 on Intuition, higher than 84% of your peers
You scored 16 on Thinking, higher than 67% of your peers
You scored 8 on Feeling, higher than 29% of your peers.
You scored 3 on Judging, higher than 17% of your peers
You scored 19 on Perceiving, higher than 78% of your peers.

I liked the questions better than most tests, I just thinking the Thinking preference words appeal to me. The introverted is funny.

I don't doubt that you have pretty bad Fe, but are you sure your Fi isn't even worse?

Fe isn't too big on consensus either; it's just as driven and externally goal-oriented as Te--it just plays off of people's emotions and the cultural standards of its surroundings in order to achieve its ends instead of Te's dependence upon impersonal constructs.

Fi is the whole "respect people's feelings for its own sake because that is Good" that you seem to be so lacking in...which would make sense as it is typically ENTJ's inferior function.

I got INFJ
1 Extraversion - 20 Introversion
13 Sensing - 13 Intuition
4 Thinking - 20 Feeling
20 Judging - 2 Perceiving

No surprises there really, although my J/P is usually more balanced. I guess IXFJ is not an option in this test.

E - 1
I - 20
S - 1
N - 25
T - 12
F - 12
J - 5
P - 17

The N and P turned out a bit too pronounced. Since my T and F were equal, the test arbitrarily picked INFP.
