The Inner Child is a charming metaphor. And it is far more useful to learn what a metaphor is than to be naively entranced by the Inner Child.

The reason it is a charming metaphor is because a lot of people cherish the carefree life of being a child.
Adults have more autonomy than children and think that a life without responsibilities and dependency would be ideal.

Yes, this is true.

And it is desirable to regress in the service of the adult ego. But it is important to emphasize that it is in the service of the adult ego.

That is, the adult ego decides when and where to become your inner child. And the adult ego decides what the inner child will do.

And when these conditions are met, regressing to your inner child is relaxing and refreshing. Under these conditions, regressing to your inner child is as refreshing as a good night's sleep.

Your Inner Child Is Scared

scared.jpg

Like a kid, you tend to shy away from new experiences.
You prefer what's tried and true - novelty is scary!
New foods, new places, and new friends are difficult for you to deal with.
Some say you're predictable, but you enjoy being comfortable.

lol, maybe

Your Inner Child Is Surprised
You see many things through the eyes of a child.
Meaning, you're rarely cynical or jaded.
You cherish all of the details in life.
Easily fascinated, you enjoy experiencing new things.

I thought she was in hiding, playing hide and seek, but oh well. :D
