I'm going to post a few shitty IDR Labs tests that I've seen, which seem to be relatively new.

Geordi La Forge
Shy and reserved, though a hard worker and loyal lieutenant, La Forge struggles with childhood trauma related to his having almost burned to death during the first years of his life, as well as from growing up blind. To compensate for his blindness, La Forge received neural implants in the form of his VISOR (Visual Instrument Sensory Organ Replacement) at the age of five, which not only allowed him to take in visual input but also proved invaluable when dealing with electronics and making repairs. Though La Forge is somewhat hampered by his traumatic past, preferring to deal with microchips and machinery as opposed to human beings, his accuracy and attention to detail when it comes to engineering has allowed him to gain a measure of confidence in his own abilities – abilities that have long been evident to the rest of the crew. La Forge is by far the best engineer on the ship, but he nevertheless prefers to know that he is on top of the numbers, data, and facts at all times as a way of soothing his own self-confidence, and makes it a policy never to promise anything that he cannot deliver.

Jean-Luc Picard

Intelligent, inquisitive, and incredibly serious, Picard is not just captain of the Enterprise, but one of the most competent and capable captains in all of Starfleet. Part archaeologist, part philosopher, and part diplomat, Picard is competent and resourceful in all manner of intellectual situations, and particularly adept at understanding alien civilizations’ unique ways of thinking. Though he runs a tight ship, insisting on stern discipline and keeping some measure of distance between himself and his crew at all times, he is also incredibly loyal towards his crew members and immensely invested in the well-being of each and every one of them. It is this mix of firmness and devotion, along with Picard’s natural leadership abilities, that have won him the admiration and respect of everyone aboard the Enterprise.

The only android aboard the Enterprise, Data has many humanlike elements programmed into his behavior, such blinking and aging, though he is constantly learning about – and inquisitive toward – what it means to be human. Data admires many aspects of human culture and civilization but is almost completely devoid of emotions himself. As a result, he often has difficulty interpreting the subtleties of human interactions, though he is desperately intrigued by them. Paired with his extraordinary intelligence and supremely rational way of apprehending any problem, Data’s inability to understand the emotional subtext of certain situations can sometimes make him appear naïve. On the other hand, it is precisely his outsider perspective that often leads Data to his unique and valuable insights on idiosyncratic challenges, such as having to explain to the god-like Q what it means to live without special powers – something that the humans on board the Enterprise had trouble doing on account of their own emotions and lack of impartiality.

We need a DS9 test.

I always felt he was more at home on that show than on TNG
