Career Role Test

ocean

Your primary role is the Executive

As the Executive, you prefer to approach your work in a determined, dedicated, and efficiency-oriented manner where you have a keen eye for the well-being of the organization and the business side of things. People who score high on the Executive role prize clear goals, firm communication, and capable leadership. They eagerly do their part towards increasing efficiency and maximizing company growth in the long run, as well as strengthening the profitability of the company overall. Rather than sitting around and talking about personal wishes and needs, or sympathizing with why someone did not meet their deadlines on time, Executives would much rather maintain a focus on the bottom line and the tough tradeoffs involved in running a business, so that continually greater revenue and market shares may be achieved.

Your preferred strategy for succeeding in your career is to acquire consecutively more recognition, influence, and power within your organization, in accordance with the achievements you have contributed. In the Executive career role, one should ideally be able to look back on every two years of one's career as a linear progression up the rungs of the corporate hierarchy. In coworkers, you respect leadership competencies, cost-management skills, and the close adherence to deadlines.

You prefer to work in environments where things are structured according to clear-cut organizational policies that serve to maintain an emphasis on company growth, revenue maximization, and meeting deadlines and targets on time.

The best way for your employer to reward you is to recognize your managerial competencies and leadership skills and to reward them through promotions, an increased salary, and widening the scope of organizational influence, responsibility, and authority that is entrusted to you.

Your secondary role is Multiple Results

While almost everyone has a definite secondary career role, your answers on the present test left us unable to calculate yours. If you are still curious, you may want to take this test again, or consult the chart above for a hint as to what that role may be.

Your secondary role is the Diplomat
icon
As the Diplomat, you prefer to approach your work in an agreeable, optimistic, and sociable manner where you go the extra mile to ensure that everyone is thriving in the workplace. Though they need not be extroverted, people who score high on the Diplomat role are usually emotionally intelligent “people persons” who enjoy facilitating human connections in order to make everyone feel motivated, acknowledged, and part of the team. Though Diplomats would of course prefer to work in environments free of strife, they are usually also good at conflict mediation, using their empathy and tact to reconcile the feuding parties and to help them reach a mutual understanding.

Your preferred strategy for succeeding in your career is to maintain an enthusiastic and heartening attitude that will promote harmony in the workplace, thus bringing out the strengths of others so as to let everyone be the best they can be. In coworkers, you respect civility, team spirit, and the willingness to participate in personal and professional development alongside others.

You prefer to work in environments where human interactions and connections may easily come to the fore so as to create shared feelings of comradeship and enthusiasm among the team. Environments where there is time for in-depth listening or counselling sessions among the employees are also likely to sit well with you.

The best way for your employer to reward you is to recognize the value of your contributions towards a harmonious workplace, understanding that graceful maneuvers to make things flow smoothly are not always as uncomplicated as they may seem. Other good ways to reward you include out-of-office coaching and personal development sessions, or for your superior to encourage special counselor or confidante relations between the two of you.

Sounds about right. I prefer to specialize in innovation, if that makes sense. I like to do what I do better than anybody else, but be part of a team of equals who are right up there with me, with various talents and duties. Unfortunately, that has never been anything more than a dream for me. I might have a plan though. ;)

I appreciate how this being specifically career-oriented is a little more... actionable than looking at this through type/functions.

Fun test, I think the result fits rather well with my way of work working... Here's what I got:

Your primary role is the Torrent

As the Torrent, you prefer to approach your work in an innovative, unconventional, and creative manner where all of your projects run into each other in consecutively more expansive spirals. People who score high on the Torrent role typically associate success with the broadening of their knowledge and skills where each of their projects tends to draw on the generalized, abstract patterns they have learned from the projects they did in the past, bringing lessons from one field of expertise to bear on another in order to form something completely new. Rather than dedicating all of their cognitive energies to a single field, or maximizing their standing within a single organization, Torrents would much rather know that they are free to pursue the whims of innovation, wherever they may lead.

Your preferred strategy for succeeding in your career is to combine more and more fields of knowledge in innovative and unconventional ways, which has the added benefit of facilitating your personal growth as well. In coworkers, you respect flexibility and ingenuity, as well as breadth and uniqueness of knowledge.

You prefer to work in environments where creativity and innovation can easily come to the fore, and where tasks and functions are shared between teams of people, each adding something special to the mix that others could not have done, so that the final product ends up superseding the capabilities of any one individual.

The best way for your employer to reward you is to appreciate your innovative and unorthodox tendencies, as well as to encourage (and if possible: assist you in) the expansion of your skills, knowledge, and unconventional personal qualities.

Your primary role is the Adventurer

As the Adventurer, you prefer to approach your work in an inspiration-driven, agile, and change-oriented manner. You enjoy being free to change course and shift gears as opportunities present themselves in your pursuit of a career trajectory that is not just an outlet for professional goals, but also about personal fulfillment as well. People who score high on the Adventurer role are usually versatile, with a love of reinventing themselves as they put themselves to mastering those fascinating and unfamiliar vistas which they have not engaged with before. They typically have a large interpersonal network which helps them facilitate their many movements and transitions from job to job, as well as making sure that there are always interesting leads to follow in their perennial quest for variety and their untiring pursuit of the new.

Your preferred strategy for succeeding in your career is to maintain an adaptable and change-oriented attitude towards work, so that you can strike quickly and easily when opportunity comes along. In coworkers, you respect amiability, as well as the ability to see openings and opportunities where others would not.

You prefer to work in informal and open-ended environments where you have the opportunity to interact with lots of different people on an "as it comes"-basis and where there are opportunities for job rotation so as to ensure a variety of different experiences.

The best way for your employer to reward you is to relax the formal constraints between employer and employee, showing you that they are not just your employer, but a friend to you as well. Special bonuses and rewards, tailored to your personality and fancies, are also likely to be a hit.
