MBTI does a great job in presenting character traits and descriptions, as well as describing thinking styles through cognitive functions. However, it also leaves many unanswered questions, such as the variations that exist among members with the same MBTI personality. This thread serves to fill-in those gaps, with additional personality and character trait systems.

A major reason for the variation is differences in political personality traits. These are outlined and detailed as follows:

Communists - Prefer socializing with a wide variety of people; Seek to understand others on a personal or intimate level; View problems as learning experiences and hurdles to overcome

Nationalists - Prefer working with people who have more authority or talent; Have a clear line between what is personal and what is business; View problems as tests of personal character or ability

National Socialists:

Desire: Power and control
Values: Family, culture or tradition, and groupthink
Engagement style: Direct and good-at-politics
Lifestyle pace: Slow and relaxed
Justice style: Mob rule
Vices: Stalking, kidnapping, bondage or rape, torture

National Capitalists:

Desire: Wealth and money
Values: High life; individuality, finding the self, a niche, or establishing a monopoly; self-expression
Engagement style: Manipulative and focused
Lifestyle pace: Fast and on-the-go
Justice style: laissez faire, non-interference by authority
Vices: Bribery, assassination or murder, fraud, cheating or stealing

Communists:

Desire: Truth and knowledge
Values: Insight and understanding
Engagement style: Unassuming and having no pretensions or ostentation
Lifestyle pace: Steady
Justice style: Law and fairness
Vices: Voicing potentially unpopular opinions, being undemanding and eager to please both sides

------

Additional divisions, and further specifying the Communist division:

Capital Socialists:
Focus: Highly specialized skills, such as achieving new heights in competitive sports (becoming a famous athlete), the arts (becoming a famous singer), science and engineering (developing new technology or getting a Ph.D in the field of interest)
Weakness: Might belittle others without intending to sound mean

Social Capitalists:
Focus: High Culture (being involved in the business with Chinese calligraphy, or selling artistic teapots like those used in Japanese tea ceremony, providing high-end decoration or luxury home design)
Weakness: Might have higher expectations of people, and become impatient when those expectations do not match reality

Social Communists:
Focus: Societal potential (how to encourage greater understanding among different segments of society, foster greater cooperation and dialogue)
Weakness: Might not fully or completely express personal opinions; focus too much on others' opinions

Capital Communists:
Focus: Human potential (how to make people's lives more fulfilling, easier and happier)
Weakness: Might have high-expectations of self that causes depression or self-harm

Neutral Communists:
Focus: Children (developing and teaching children skills in the arts, like singing, playing musical instruments, or helping them with math, engineering and science; exploring ways to improve children's health)
Weakness: Might have little interest in, or lack understanding of peers and adults

------

Further specifying the Neutral Communist division:

Social Neutral Communist:
Focus: Finding and simplifying truth to a level that even children can understand
Weakness: Might absentmindedly pursue a goal that friendships and relationships are neglected

Capital Neutral Communist:
Focus: Capitalizing on an idea and realizing it to its full potential
Weakness: Might be dismissive of people's feelings, or become harshly critical

An example of a Social Neutral Communist is Albert Einstein, while Bill Gates is an example of a Capital Neutral Communist

The total number of political personality traits is eight, and alternative, less politically loaded titles might be used:

National Socialist - Whig
National Capitalist - Tory
Capital Socialist - Republican
Social Capitalist - Democrat
Social Communist - Progressive
Capital Communist - Libertarian
Social Neutral Communist - Labor
Capital Neutral Communist - Conservative

------

Four Temperaments or Representation styles:

Visual people - "Sanguine", fast movements, appear active and enthusiastic
Auditory people - "Melancholic", medium-speed movements, appear analytical or quiet
Olfactory people - "Phlegmatic", slow movements, appear peaceful and relaxed

"Choleric" people - short-tempered, irritable (these people often have nails with short roots)

Learning styles:

Visual learning - learns better through reading, charts or graphs
Auditory/discussion learning - learns better through listening to a lecture, and discussing the topic
Hands-on/writing/kinesthetic - learns better through hands-on experience, practice, and writing notes

Love Languages (might have a relation to temperaments):

Affirmation (common to all people, though especially appreciated by people with the auditory temperament, or auditory learners) - desire to be praised; can appear very sociable
Physical intimacy (more likely in people with the visual temperament) - desire to touch and be touched; can appear and sound innocent and playful
Service (more likely in people with the auditory temperament) - desire to do things for others; can appear very dependable
Quality time (more likely in people with the olfactory temperament) - desire to spend meaningful time in quality settings; can appear thoughtful and quiet
Gifting (common to all people) - desire to make others happy through gifts; can appear very caring

Multiple intelligence (might be related to different temperaments and learning style combinations):

Musical-rhythmic (visual or olfactory temperament, auditory learner) - sensitivity to sounds, rhythms, tones, and music
Visual-spatial (visual temperament, hands-on learner) - spatial judgment and the ability to visualize with the mind's eye
Verbal-linguistic (olfactory temperament, auditory learner) - good at reading, writing, telling stories and memorizing words along with dates
Logical-mathematical (auditory temperament, visual learner) - logic, abstractions, reasoning, numbers and critical thinking
Bodily-kinesthetic (visual temperament, hands-on learner) - control of bodily motions and handle objects skillfully
Interpersonal (Fe-Ti cognitive functions) - sensitivity to others' moods, feelings, temperaments, motivations; ability to cooperate on a team
Intrapersonal (Fi-Te cognitive functions) - deep understanding of the self; what one's strengths or weaknesses are, what makes one unique, being able to predict one's own reactions or emotions
Naturalistic (a child's upbringing, might also be part of political traits) - recognize flora and fauna; classifying animal and plant species, rocks and mountain types

The three quotients can also be meaningful, though they are useful only when a person scores well below the average: (IQ, EQ, and motivational quotient [related to spiritual intelligence])

------

Romantic compatibility in the case of political character traits follows the phrase "birds of a feather flock together". Besides people of the same political personality being attracted to each other, they are also more likely to associate with people who are like themselves. These compatibility are to be considered in addition to MBTI, and other factors like temperaments and learning styles:

Besides matching with themselves, National Socialists can also be matched with Capital Socialists and Neutral Communists
National Capitalists can also be matched with Social Capitalists and Neutral Communists
Capital Socialists - National Socialists, Social Communists
Social Capitalists - National Capitalists, Capital Communists
Social Communists - Capital Communists, Capital Socialists
Capital Communists - Social Communists, Social Capitalists
Social Neutral Communists - National Socialists, Capital Neutral Communists
Capital Neutral Communists - National Capitalists, Social Neutral Communists

------

Tips to tell what temperaments and thinking styles people have

The temperaments can be readily observed in people, especially when first identifying their MBTI types. For simple identification, people with the visual temperament often scan their environment when talking or walking, having their eyes frequently looking upwards when thinking (this might make them appear more enthusiastic, fast or active). People with the auditory temperament often look sideways to their ears, and either look ahead or down when walking, as if they are listening or thinking (makes them appear analytical or "good listeners"). Those with the olfactory temperament will walk and appear peaceful and relaxed. Finally, people with the "choleric" or irritable temperament will appear like there is a stick up their spine and walk rather stiffly, while talking tends to be in bursts.

People rarely have the same temperament and learning style. For example, a person with visual temperament might have either auditory learning style or hands-on learning style, while someone with olfactory temperament might have either visual or auditory learning style. This is theoretical, though intuitive people might more easily acquire a secondary learning style than sensing people.

For a simple visual identification, people with the visual learning style often have an intense gaze, or that their eyes widen upon seeing or hearing something. People with the auditory learning style might appear more social, talkative or ready to listen. Those with the hands-on learning style will appear like they don't talk much, or are often thinking about something.

Temperaments and learning styles with ties to Multiple Intelligence

Multiple intelligence might be an outgrowth of various temperaments and learning style combinations. The different temperaments explains how people feed information into their subconscious memory, while learning style shows how people gain information with working memory. For example, a person with visual temperament would be using their eyes to absorb information that is then input into their subconscious, so it appears natural when they produce something visually pleasing, without being able to fully explain how they did it. On the other hand, the visual learner would visually obtain information using working memory, which then relates how the information could be used under different settings and in various contexts.

In terms of multiple intelligence, a person with auditory temperament and hands-on learning style might be attracted to writing stories about what they've heard (showing higher verbal-linguistic intelligence), while a person with visual temperament and auditory learning style might write screenplays instead of in article format (They might otherwise excel at singing or music [musical-rhythmic intelligence]). Visual temperament and hands-on learning style people might be attracted to dancing (bodily-kinesthetic intelligence). Or, a person with visual temperament and hands-on learning style might be attracted to photography or filming (visual-spatial intelligence). Similarly, a person with auditory temperament and visual learning style might be attracted to math and science (logical-mathematical intelligence). Interpersonal intelligence might be related to Fe-Ti, while intrapersonal intelligence has more to do with Fi-Te. Naturalistic intelligence might be more related to a child's upbringing, his introduction to animals and appreciation for being in the wild.

Different temperaments and learning style combinations produce people with different interests, thus making them excel in some areas while being average in others. This does not mean that they are not suited to certain tasks, because practice often makes the difference, though it means people might be natural or gifted in one area, while not so in another.

Temperaments and Learning Styles with possible Career Paths or Hobbies

Please note that people rarely have the same temperament and learning style. For example, a person with olfactory temperament will often have either visual learning style or auditory learning style. Also, people with the choleric temperament are relatively rare, and they are usually of the visual learning style. The list will mainly focus on people with a temperament and learning styles that do not match each other, and this covers at least 80% of the population.

Visual temperament, auditory learning style - Writing screenplays or plays, singing or music, acting
Visual temperament, hands-on learning style - Drawing or painting, dancing or martial arts, filming or photography, user-interface designer
Auditory temperament, visual learning style - Science or math, researcher, computer programmer, engineering
Auditory temperament, hands-on learning style - Journalist, author, reporter, writer, musician, investor
Olfactory temperament, visual learning style - Business, trader, scientist
Olfactory temperament, auditory learning style - Counselor, interviewer, music, teacher
"Choleric" temperament, visual learning style - Mechanics, engineering

Temperaments and Learning Styles with relation to Finding Romance or Friendship

Besides temperaments and learning styles, other factors include MBTI and political personality, which also decide whether people are attracted to each other. For the temperaments and learning styles, it goes by "birds of a feather fly together" and "cover weaknesses with the strength of others"

People of the same temperament are more likely to associate with each other. Often, people of the same temperament will be closer to another of the same temperament, but different learning style. For example, a person with visual temperament and auditory learning style might become best friend with someone of the visual temperament, and hands-on learning style.

Temperaments and ties to Speciation

Different species of animals also show preferences for different temperaments. For example, birds and monkeys might be of the visual temperament, where they fly or jump between branches, and use quick judgement to calculate distance to objects. Hyenas and wolves might be of visual temperament, where they learn to separate the older and weaker animals from the herd. On the other hand, wild cats, tigers and leopards are of auditory temperament, where they use their hearing to detect possible prey while ambushing. Snakes and many herbivores like deer and horses are of the olfactory temperament, where they use taste to find prey or the sweetest grass. Porcupines and hedgehogs, anteaters, wild boars, wild buffaloes and those with long claws, might be of the "choleric" or irritable temperament, where they aggressively defend themselves when attacked.

I'm Capital Communist, auditory temperament, visual learner, physical intimacy, visual-spatial intelligence,

In general I like this system, but I'd think maybe the names for the political temperaments could be changed, since people of those temperaments won't necessarily hold those political views.

I'd also argue that interpersonal vs. intrapersonal intelligence isn't necessarily tied to the judging axes, for example I score much higher on intrapersonal than interpersonal despite being INTP.

So glad you recognize the usefulness of the system, and the political personality titles might sound offensive, though they do reflect reality to a certain extent.

I'm Social Communist, visual temperament, hands-on learner. Many professional athletes have the visual temperament and hands-on learner combination, and I do feel I need more exercise than most people.

Here are examples of people for each political personality. The peope listed as examples are visual temperament and auditory learners.

National Socialist:
Jada Pinkett Smith - Wikipedia

Capital Socialist:
Selena - Wikipedia

Social Capitalist:
Oprah Winfrey - Wikipedia

National Capitalist:
Mila Kunis - Wikipedia

Social Communist:
Teresa Teng - Wikipedia

Capital Communist:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharon_Tate

Social Neutral Communist:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catherine,_Duchess_of_Cambridge

Capital Neutral Communist:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonna_(entertainer)

------

Below is a visualization of the political personalities; the top left is concerned about power and the distribution of wealth, while the top right is concerned about self expression and the accumulation of wealth. The bottom two are more concerned about the welfare and education of children.

Those closer to the left (National Socialists) appear to have stockier builds, or are more physically powerful than those on the right, who more often appear thin or have slim builds. On the other hand, those closer to the right (National Capitalists) tend to be more expressive, and interested in intellectual pursuits.

Here is a visualization of the political personality types with the love languages. Specifically, Social Communist ENTP appear to have the affirmation and quality time love languages (visual and olfactory temperaments), while the Capital Communist ENTP appear to have the affirmation and physical intimacy love languages (visual temperament). It's possible that the Capital Communist side also have service love language, or that the gifting and service love languages appear equally on both sides.

There appears to be another dichotomy, and that's between creative-oriented people, and skill oriented people:

Creative people:

Able to multitask efficiently
Have a wide variety of interests (might appear easily distracted)
Asks the questions of what makes one thing or system work better than another, under what circumstances would one thing work better, and what makes certain things work well

Skill-oriented people:

Prefer to stick to and finish one task at a time
Focused on developing, learning, and improving one skill, or a set of skills (appears career or goal oriented)
Asks the questions of how one can improve oneself, how to solve a particular problem, and how does one problem relate to another, already solved, problem

Sensors tend to be skill oriented, though they are very focused on developing human capital. Intuitives are more ideal driven, and can be skill-oriented or creative oriented.

For intuitives, Social Communist, Capital Communist, Neutral Social Communist and Neutral Capital Communist political personality types tend to be more creative oriented, while the other political personality types are more skill-oriented.

I have created three files: One shows examples of people in each political personality, while the other shows the romantic compatibility of people for each political personality. The third picture shows how the political personalities view men and women in terms societal dominance (god or goddess energy).

The examples include: Selena Gomez (National Socialist), Mila Kunis (National Capitalist), Lady Gaga (Capital Socialist), Marilyn Monroe (Social Capitalist), Teresa Teng (Social Communist), Sharon Tate (Capital Communist), Kate Middleton (Neutral Social Communist), and Avril Lavigne (Neutral Capital Communist)

Yeah, this has been posted on PerC and it's far from being a value-neutral system.

You make National Socialists sound like a bunch of thugs (which historically they were) and National Capitalists sound similar, while Communists sound like wise, innocent intellectualls (which historically they weren't, since they behaved in a similar fashion to Nazis/fascists).

I realize you're not referring to history but this is more of a subjective use of the terms, which is only going to cause confusion, especially given the way in which the groups are described.

Sorry, but I'm just not convinced at all by this system.

The issue about the titles or names has been brought up on Personality Cafe, though besides the naming and possibly unflattering descriptions, what's causing you to doubt the personality add-on system? I find the political personality, especially when coupled with temperaments and learning styles, as well as the love languages, describe very well the variations existing within a particular MBTI personality type.

Well the terms and descriptions of a personality system are very much at the root of said systems so if they are defective (as you admit yourself) it's safe to say the whole system is worth throwing away and starting over from scratch. This doesn't seem to be detail you can just gloss over, in other words. I'm having a hard time understanding the system itself apart from the bias it shows, so forgive me but thats what I think.

Did you write this system yourself? If so, why not alter the names and descriptions? You admit there is something wrong with something of your authorship yet refuse to change it? Why?

Btw I'm not saying you should change it to make me happy, but you admit yourself you find the common concepts expressed by the names to be "unflattering".

This isn't to say there is nothing good in your system, however, maybe you'll wanna keep some concepts like the love languages but rephrase the rest?

My advice, at least.

The political personality system is not defective, and I see no problem with offensive titles and unflattering descriptions, as long as they describe the variations of a MBTI personality type. Do you have any specific questions about the political personality system?

Here is an updated diagram for the masculine/feminine society in relation to political personality. Specifically, I have moved Neutral Social Communist and Neutral Capital Communist into the group favoring masculine society, while Capital Socialist and Social Capitalist are now in the group favoring feminine society.

This is an update to the examples of people in relation to political personality, as well as added information in regards to political personality and ego- or ille-based guides. For examples of people in political personality, I have replaced Mila Kunis (who is likely a Capital Communist, visual temperament, hands-on learner, affirmation love language, instead of National Capitalist) with Peng Liyuan, the wife of Xi Jinping. Other people replaced is Avril Lavigne with Madonna (because Madonna has clearer photos of the face without heavy makeup), and Lady Gaga with Yang Mi (because Lady Gaga is ENFJ, instead of ENTP as with the other examples).

Ego-based guides is about improving the self in relation to others, or when a person is comparing himself to others, and asking "if he can do it, then I can do it". It is also based on how "staying still is to be left behind, and moving forward is to stay still". On the other hand, the Ille-based guides is about how to help others, or understanding what others expect of you. It is asking "how can I help or what can I do for others and society", and "what needs to be done to satisfy a desire or want". This information partly comes from articles by Erin Pavlina, in which she discusses Fear-based guides: Fear-based Guides Part I, Fear-based Guides Part II

A well-developed National Capitalist represents positivity-or-positive-thinking and hope-for-the-present

A well-developed National Socialist represents expecting-great-things or hope-for-the-future

Your parents are your greatest counselors. Your mother represents positive thinking and positivity, while your father represents hope for the future.

An update to the National Socialist (I couldn't find a famous female National Socialist ENTP, so Moon Jae-in will stand in as a male example), Neutral Social Communist (while Kate Middleton is a good example, I feel Zaha Hadid is a better example by virtue of her affirmation love language, instead of physical intimacy love language as with Kate Middleton), and Neutral Capital Communist (I feel like Madonna might have been Social Communist, visual temperament, hands-on learner, affirmation love language, instead of a Neutral Capital Communist). Another example of Neutral Capital Communist would be Thomas Edison, though I feel Barbara Marciniak is a good female example.

I have updated the relationship compatibility for the political personalities diagram, with inner principles or mentality that "all is one" and "there is enough for everyone"

political-personality-romantic-compatibility2.jpg

I have also done research into the frequency-based beings, namely that there are energy-based beings, reptilian-based beings, and emotions-based beings. I won't go into the details of each, though more information can be found on this web link: Energy-based people (who relies on internal feelings) and Emotions-based people

Career-orientation types

I have created a picture or diagram to summarize the three variations in career-orientation:

Amy Latina - Project-oriented; inspiration-based; "mesomorph" or "rugged"

Teresa Teng - Service-oriented, love-based, "endomorph" or "round"

Rika Izumi - Discovery-oriented, joy-based, "ectomorph" or "thin"
