Something to consider about Cognitive functions; when we are growing up, are we initially more aware of the development of our Childish (Tertiary) function, and therefore spend more time catering to it? Subsequently, is the Parental (Auxiliary) function just something that lurks in the background, stepping in to demonstrate its purpose without us even being fully aware of it until we start to mature?

Example: I used to be hyper-aware of Extraverted Feeling, being overly concerned with how my actions would affect other people, and then developing it to the point where I even felt like I 'got good' at it. However, as I got older, I started realizing that I often over-extended myself, and that I was primarily just trying to 'sell myself' to others as a way of getting their attention and approval. Around at the same time, I realized that I had been relying on my Ti to guide me all along, making calculations and guesses based on others' nonverbal communication and body language.

Anyone have similar experiences with their Tert function?

Tert Functions for each type:
ExTP = Fe
IxTJ = Fi
ExFP = Te
IxFJ = Ti
ESxJ = Ne
ISxP = Ni
ENxJ = Se
INxP = Si
