People only get stressed out about holidays because everybody else thinks that the holidays are important enough to stress out about. It's a godawful feedback loop.

So you're looking forward to holidays because you get off work for them, but you give yourself a bunch of work to do on the holidays. Fantastic.

C'mon. Take them as opportunities to get things like get drunk, dress up in costumes, and something something about families I guess too.

I enjoy holidays that celebrate something real.

The important thing about holidays is the people I spend them with.

I'm not a person who generally likes tradition. I find they restrict us, and that sustaining archaic, worthless patterns because it's what's expected is foolish.

That, however, completely changes for Christmas. Despite the crowds, the annoying music and the rampant commercialism it something I look forward to quite a bit. Perhaps that's because my family seemed a bit less screwed up at that time of year.

HOLIDAY = TIME OFF

TIME OFF = FUCK YEAH

I don't care what the holiday is. A day to do whatever I want is glorious.

I think all the holidays are an interesting peek into someone's life, values, and culture. I love learning how people choose to celebrate what they celebrate, whether it's based in an established cultural tradition, or they are creating a new tradition for their family.

As a child, we celebrated The Epiphany, not Christmas. I didn't even learn what that was until grade school [though, my younger siblings were raised celebrating Christmas since they were babies and they know nothing else]. This upbringing influences my perspective.

ANYWAY-- I love Halloween. And dark and scary and haunted things. Best time of year.

But other than that.. I just like any excuse to gather with those I care about, and eat good food. I don't personally care for anything beyond that when it comes to Fall/Winter Holidays. It just doesn't mean anything to me.

OH! We celebrated the Lunar New Year as a child, because that celebration was integral to the community in which we lived. I have fond memories of that and share that with my own child as well.

Strangely enough, I'm not that fond of holidays. They feel like an extra hassle to me. You have to put up stuff and interact with people more. I do like seeing the twinkly lights at Christmas in the deep of winter. I have complex feelings about Christmas because I used to like it, but I'm not part of its religious aspect now and the songs have grown quite old. I suppose it would be a more bland world w/o holidays, but I'm not sure I would miss them. Generally holidays make me feel more hassled and pressured than usual, and I don't even do that much for the holidays myself.

Kinda reminds me of how my parents didn't let me and my sister celebrate Halloween until I was in 7th or 8th grade; we celebrated "the harvest festival" because she thought Halloween was "evil." She thought a lot of things were evil. Like Harry Potter and anime. Thank god she's changed a lot lol. Now she's a lot more fun.

Original idea is perfectly ok with me.
However modern versions of Christmas time make all the evils bubble to the surface in my country and therefore I am not overly enthusiastic about the whole thing.
