The Moral Question

And then there is the moral question of mbti - a moral question you ask, surely mbti is beyond morals, surely it is merely a tool we use?

Well, while we are using a tool, the tool is using us.

In this case mbti exploits our narcissism, mbti does not cure our narcissism.

If we can destroy the morale of an army, we can destroy the army. And in the same way, if we can destroy the morale of working people, we can exploit them to our heart's content.

And we can destroy the morale of working people by feeding their narcissism.

And so mbti appeals to, encourages, and validates, our narcissism.

And our narcissism makes us unable to see reality and so act in our best interests.

So rather than curing our narcissism, mbti aids in our exploitation.

Morals and Taste

The moral question is also a matter of taste.

Do we prefer a fake personality test like mbti, or do we prefer a valid and reliable personality test found in Psychometrics.

Do we have good taste or bad taste?

Any narcissism - or, rather, egotism - that exists in MBTI exists not in a colloquial sense, but in a Nietzschean sense - as a way of overcoming our own inabilities. Indeed, MBTI can bee accused of gross generalizations, but often, many can identify with these generalizations such that they have it spelled out for them what they're lacking and how they can improve. If they use it to understand their faults to raise themselves higher, then - good; if it's used to bask in one's glory (by virtue of their innate abilities) and gain a new collective-identity (or, better put, herd-identity), then it's being misused.

Narcissism is the result of abuse or neglect as a small child.

This is too much to bear in the conscious mind, so we repress the memory of our abuse or neglect and instead constantly seek narcissistic supply.

And this is what we see with mbti: a constant search for narcissistic supply.

I think that MBTI is a great thing

We are in the information age

I am narcissistic, but this is not remarkable

Who on earth would know better?

True, but a narcissist that isn't aware or fully accepting that they are a narcissist would instead distance themselves from the idea and project their narcissism on others who are not narcissistic. This would be rather unhelpful; then a simple "whatever" becomes narcissistic when it could mean many other things...

Or is this an unreasonable observation?

Do you think a narcissist calling other people a narcissist has a right to judge?

There are some tell-tale signs. For instance, narcissists don't like therapists. A narcissist would prefer to come on Central looking for narcissistic supply rather than seeing a therapist.

Narcissism is the result of abuse or neglect as a small child. And the adult narcissist is likely to repeat the abuse and neglect of their own children.

All adults are going to abuse their children

We must simply draw the line somewhere

If this were the case, all adults in Australia would go to jail, for the abuse of children is an offense under our Criminal Law.

As I write, the Australia Royal Commission into Child Abuse is taking evidence against institutions which have abused children. And the newspapers today are saying the Roman Catholic Church will have to sell of some of their properties to pay compensation.

If as you say, all adults abuse children, that means no adults abuse children, and so is an apology for child abuse.

I wouldn't try it here or in Ireland if I were you.
