In response to Gabe's post in the other opposite thread and for the sake of enlightening :smile:conversations:

So for INFP, as example, which is the true oppposite?

First off here is INFP
Fi Ne Si Te

Shadow functions:
(Fe) (Ni) (Se) (Ti)

So is the opposite ISTP?
Ti Se Ni Fe

Shadow:
(Te)(Si)(Ne)(Fi)

Or is it ESTJ?
Te Si Ne Fi

Shadow:
(Ti)(Se)(Ni)(Fe)

I hope I got that right, please let me know if I didn't.

Actually, it's arrogant of me to say it "is" ISTP.
Here: in 'whole type' (accounting for all functions), your opposite type would be ISTP.
confession: I have no idea how to 'figure out' the opposite type in Lenore's theory. If anyone wants to try that, power to them.

Thanks Gabe... I want more information on the true opposite hope that some people can shed light in it further.

What about the ENFJ?

INFP : Fi Ne Si Te
ENFJ : Fe Ni Se Ti

Just to say I've been wondering the same thing :D What do people mean when they say "opposite"? Opposite taken which way??

Wouldn't the ESTJ, for example, be more accurately described as the Anima/Animus of the INFP?

The ENFJ would be the Shadow

And the ISTP would be the true Opposite.

Just thinking out loud...

Isn't the animus/anima the shadow in Jung's work?

Well, it is the opposite sex shadow.

There also is a same gender shadow.

So which would be the personality for each I wonder?

I am also just thinking out loud.

Why is everyone so convinced that it goes Fi Ne Si Te?

I've never seen an INFP use Te. Ever. Nor have I seen an ENFP use Te.

I'm probably exaggerating, but that's because I have such awful Si.

I see it used by INFP all the time here and on INFPgc, some flattering and some not so flattering. When you feel that sudden boot in your face from a passive INFP that's a clue.

And how often have you seen an INFP use Ti?

In my opinion, Ti is less used than Te...

Maybe he is suggesting that we never think, just float through life with no grounding.

I really don't want to focus on INFP here though. I wanted to just use it as example and talk more about the anima/animus thing in types in general. :D (That's Te taking offense to order being disrupted by the way!)

Hello! I use Te a lot!
So do INFPs.

Oh, to be honest, Nokapsy, I suspect that you either are: NOT an extraverted intuition type. OR, have some negative idea about Si and are therefor saying "i have terrible Si"

and you can have any theory you like, but don't be blind to NFP's frequent use of extraverted thinking.

Well I would have to say that my inferior Se is a ton better than my inferior shadow Si.

The type most unlike me (INFJ) would be ISTJ... where as ESTP would be my "opposite" reverse type.

INFJ - NiFeTiSe NeFiTeSi
ISTJ - SiTeFiNe SeTiFeNi
ESTP - SeTiFeNi SiTeFiNe

HEY! ISTJ is ESTP's inverse shadow type! I love patterns... ^^

It's never happened.

I've seen much more Ti. Especially in ENFPs.

I'll admit I don't believe in the traditional function order. It's a bunch of bull.

Consider this:
INFPs don't favor Fi most, but they favor introverted judgement most. Feeling just happens to be their best. Just like they like to keep their secondary function as an extraverted perception. INFP is, of course going to, most often, use the intuiting version of extraverted perception -- or else they'd be an ISFP, of course -- but I've seen a lot greater Se than Si in INFPs also.

I've examined myself and found that I 'frequent' Se much more commonly than I do Si. I use Ni more than Si as well, but Se is used more than Ni and Si. Because introverted perception isn't easy for me. Especially not sensing.

Si... basically doesn't exist in me. I'm sure it's in here somewhere...
Ask dissonance or DD. DD actually has frequently commented on my (and her own heh) almost annoying lack of introverted sensing.

Maybe I should make this into another thread.

Probably because you think you're supposed to.

How much do you know about the unconscious?

Oh, to be honest, Nocapszy, I suspect that you either are: NOT an extraverted intuition type.
Well that's pretty mathematical -- nice Ti.

OR, have some negative idea about Si and are therefor saying "i have terrible Si"

Just ask dissonance or DD. They'll tell you what the fuck is up.

And since we're questioning type here: it's not very Ne-ish to stick to the typical running boards of a system. You should be embracing my ideas. But I guess you're not a extraverted intuition type.

Okay, so them what is the true cognitive opposite type for INFP?

Ha! Approve.

I don't think there is one. If there is, then I'd go with ISTP, or ESTJ.

Thinking first, sensing second. For some reason, I want to keep the attitudes in the same place.

I guess it doesn't really make as much sense.

ESTJ for now.
