***

Personally, the ones (for INFJ) about jobs hit the nail on the head for me. That, and being underrepresented in ‘watching sporting events’ as a leisure activity: it’s something I’ve never been able to enjoy.

Also, I think it’s interesting (and maybe kinda funny, about INFJs) that INFJs “ranked highest in being dissatisfied with ‘Marriage/intimate relationship’”, while ESFJs ranked highest in satisfaction with it. That might almost be worthy of its own thread. (If they arrived at these ‘facts’ through self-report, then is it just that ESFJs feel the most need to report being satisfied? And what's up with being least satisfied, INFJs?).

Anyway, what do you think of your own type’s ‘facts’?

• Most important feature of an ideal job: creativity and originality; earning a lot of money. True; Mostly false
• Males were highest on "obliviousness index" (relatively unaware of spouse's dissatisfaction with the relationship). I tend to be somewhat socially oblivious
• Highly represented among college students taking foreign languages. False
• In national sample, ranked 3rd highest in saying "No" and 2nd highest in "Not sure" to belief in a higher spiritual power. Fits
• In national sample "Leisure Activities," overrepresented in "Appreciating art," "Writing," "Taking classes, going to school," and "Playing with computers or video games." Fits me
• Academic subjects preferred: art, science. Fits, though I haven't done Science classes in a year
• Lowest of all types in liking work environments with "Clear structures & responsibilities," "Employee loyalty & job security," and "Working as part of a team" Damn right for the most part
• 1 of 3 highest types liking work environments with "International opportunities" and "Advancement/pay but not job security" Dunno
• Include in top 3 desirable work environment characteristics "Variety of tasks," "Independence & achievement," and "Clear structures." Sounds good except maybe not the last one as much
• In national sample, dissatisfied with "Salary," "Promotions," and "Job security," "Predictability," and "Working conditions" in their jobs. I guess so... don't work yet
• With INFPs, most dissatisfied with the work they do, where they work, and future work opportunities, and likely to leave job. Me no worky
• With ISTPs, had the lowest mean level of coping resources; ranked 16th out of 16 types on total resources. What?
• Most frequent among college students referred for drug and alcohol violations. What? Us INTPs irresponsible druggies? I didn't know we had it in us. Maybe we just suck at talking our way out of it.

• Among the four highest in college GPA. Yes. I have a 4.0 (Im not sure if American grading and European grading scales work differently - So that's perfect A's all through my undergrad program.)
• Overrepresented among bank officers and financial managers. Not me. Im a science person.
• One of the top 2 types among industrial/technical teachers. ^^
• Higher on deductive reasoning than dominant Thinking or Feeling types, with other dominant Sensing types. I don't really have a good basis of comparison to 'confirm' this but I don't have any reason to disagree.
• Academic subjects preferred: math, practical skills.Math is actually one of my weakest subjects. I have to work MUCH harder to succeed in math-related courses than anything else. I struggle with it a bit.
• More frequent among African Americans. Im about as pale, pasty white as it gets.
• In national sample, highest of all types in liking work environments where "Everything is done by the book" and one of 3 highest types in liking "Toeing the line"; No surprise there. =) By the book, indeed.
• Lowest of all types in liking work environments with "People of different backgrounds." I'm indifferent about people's backgrounds.
• In national sample, dissatisfied with "Promotions" in their jobs. Haven't had enough experience in the work force to confirm/deny
• Overrepresented among both male and female small business owners compared with national sample. I can't see myself being a successful business owner.
• With ISFJs, far outnumber dominant extraverted Sensing types among chronic pain patients. Eh. I have a leg injury that is probably going to cause me pain for the rest of my life, but considering it was the result of a car accident and 7 subsequent surgeries... That hardly seems like it is MBTI related. I also dislike pain medication and refused to take any after my surgeries or during physical therapy and such.
• Overrepresented among men with chronic pain - accounted for 38% of sample studied. Im not a man.
• Overrepresented among men at risk for heart attack - more than 3.5 times the proportion in Myers' high school sample. ^^
• One of two most overrepresented female types in a substance abuse program. Honestly, I must admit that I could see myself falling into substance abuse under the right circumstances.

Overall, I'd say this is probably decently accurate, despite some of it not being applicable to me.

• Most important feature of an ideal job: creativity and originality; earning a lot of money.I like both, yes,
• Males were highest on "obliviousness index" (relatively unaware of spouse's dissatisfaction with the relationship). Not male and not in a relationship. But I'm pretty oblivious nonetheless.
• Highly represented among college students taking foreign languages.Atm I've given up any thought of trying to learn new languages.
• In national sample, ranked 3rd highest in saying "No" and 2nd highest in "Not sure" to belief in a higher spiritual power.About right.
• In national sample "Leisure Activities," overrepresented in "Appreciating art," "Writing," "Taking classes, going to school," and "Playing with computers or video games."I don't write for leisure but I'm surprised they forgot READING!
• Academic subjects preferred: art, science.Yeeees! I'm not taking any science classes but I like the subject.
• Lowest of all types in liking work environments with "Clear structures & responsibilities," "Employee loyalty & job security," and "Working as part of a team"They all sound nice to me. So long as these aren't subtle ways of saying "you're shackled to your desk and your task"...which in that case hell no.
• 1 of 3 highest types liking work environments with "International opportunities" and "Advancement/pay but not job security"Both sound nice. I'm reading no job security as meaning able to leave any time? I wouldn't like to be fired at a moment's notice.
• Include in top 3 desirable work environment characteristics "Variety of tasks," "Independence & achievement," and "Clear structures."Clear structure contradicts the bullet before. But I like these.
• In national sample, dissatisfied with "Salary," "Promotions," and "Job security," "Predictability," and "Working conditions" in their jobs.I don't work but I have a feeling I'll be encountering these problems nevertheless.
• With INFPs, most dissatisfied with the work they do, where they work, and future work opportunities, and likely to leave job.Same as above.
• With ISTPs, had the lowest mean level of coping resources; ranked 16th out of 16 types on total resources.Yes I get it. I'm a stressed out sociopath, okay?
• Most frequent among college students referred for drug and alcohol violations.I don't consume either regularly.

In general, it's not wrong. Lol.

• Most important feature of an ideal job: creativity and originality; earning a lot of money. First one is definitely true. The second, meh...it's important, but not nearly as important as having the freedom to do the job the way I want.
• Males were highest on "obliviousness index" (relatively unaware of spouse's dissatisfaction with the relationship). If by obliviousness, they mean, "unaware there's a serious problem until it's too late to do anything about it," then yeah.
• Highly represented among college students taking foreign languages. I find different languages interesting, but they're not really my cup of tea.
• In national sample, ranked 3rd highest in saying "No" and 2nd highest in "Not sure" to belief in a higher spiritual power. Bingo.
• In national sample "Leisure Activities," overrepresented in "Appreciating art," "Writing," "Taking classes, going to school," and "Playing with computers or video games." Yes, yes, no, no, YES. Really, school as a leisure activity? I'd much rather learn on my own and at my own pace than within a structured environment.
• Academic subjects preferred: art, science. Somewhat yes to both. I preferred history, psych & philosophy slightly more.
• Lowest of all types in liking work environments with "Clear structures & responsibilities," "Employee loyalty & job security," and "Working as part of a team" Yes (hate overly structured environments), no (I like job security), yes (I work best alone)
• 1 of 3 highest types liking work environments with "International opportunities" and "Advancement/pay but not job security" Yes / no.
• Include in top 3 desirable work environment characteristics "Variety of tasks," "Independence & achievement," and "Clear structures." Yes / yes / ehh, if by "clear structures" they mean structures free of bureaucracy, doubletalk and bullshit, then yes.
• In national sample, dissatisfied with "Salary," "Promotions," and "Job security," "Predictability," and "Working conditions" in their jobs. Promotions I don't really care that much about. The rest sound like things a lot of people are dissatisfied with at one time or another.
• With INFPs, most dissatisfied with the work they do, where they work, and future work opportunities, and likely to leave job. Yes, yes, yes, yes.
• With ISTPs, had the lowest mean level of coping resources; ranked 16th out of 16 types on total resources. Certainly.
• Most frequent among college students referred for drug and alcohol violations. Makes sense, we tend to overdo it. See the point right above this one for a clue.

Anyway, what do you think of your own type’s ‘facts’?

INTP

• Most important feature of an ideal job: creativity and originality; earning a lot of money.
-- Can't argue with this. All of those sound pretty good. And because Trentham said it, *doing the job the way I want*. I'd not have thought to say it, but as he did, *very* little is more important than that, when it comes to work. Big :solidarity: to you, Trentham.

• Males were highest on "obliviousness index" (relatively unaware of spouse's dissatisfaction with the relationship).
-- Not in a relationship, although I'd like to say that I'd try very hard to not fall into the trap of taking the SO for granted. But oblivious? Yes, I often am.

• Highly represented among college students taking foreign languages.
-- Hah. Ordinarily, no. However, *currently*, I am taking Chinese (my first language class in 20+ years though...)

• In national sample, ranked 3rd highest in saying "No" and 2nd highest in "Not sure" to belief in a higher spiritual power.
-- How INTP-ish! "No" is only outvoted by "Not Sure". I'm basically in between the two.

• In national sample "Leisure Activities," overrepresented in "Appreciating art," "Writing," "Taking classes, going to school," and "Playing with computers or video games."
-- I do generally enjoy all of those things.

• Academic subjects preferred: art, science.
-- Science, history, and *doing* art all sound like fun. *Studying* other people's art, not so much.

• Lowest of all types in liking work environments with "Clear structures & responsibilities," "Employee loyalty & job security," and "Working as part of a team"
-- I don't have strong beliefs about those, but that may partially be that my current job (the good aspects of which I tend to take for granted) is more flexible than most. I *do* wish co-workers would leave me alone and let me work, though (but the job doesn't allow for that).

• 1 of 3 highest types liking work environments with "International opportunities" and "Advancement/pay but not job security"
-- Why wouldn't I want job security, all other things being equal? Perhaps I value this a bit more because I despise looking for new jobs. International opportunities does sound great though. Advancement/Pay are of course good, but sometimes you have to be careful... unless you're your own boss, advancement often means "expectation of turning work into your life" -- not cool.

• Include in top 3 desirable work environment characteristics "Variety of tasks," "Independence & achievement," and "Clear structures."
-- All sounds good, as do "creativity" and "no bureaucracy" (yeah, wishful thinking)

• In national sample, dissatisfied with "Salary," "Promotions," and "Job security," "Predictability," and "Working conditions" in their jobs.
-- All of this is accurate.

• With INFPs, most dissatisfied with the work they do, where they work, and future work opportunities, and likely to leave job.
-- All of this is probably at least somewhat accurate.

• With ISTPs, had the lowest mean level of coping resources; ranked 16th out of 16 types on total resources.
-- Hate to say it, but in my case, this is absolutely true. Other than chatting with family and a friends a handful or two times a year, I'm on my own.

• Most frequent among college students referred for drug and alcohol violations.
-- This is the one that's absolutely not me. I've never had any interest in either, and actively avoid situations where such a thing would even have the possibility of arising.

Interesting things to note:

-- Nobody is satisfied with "Salary" or "Promotions". I do find it sort of reassuring that in some ways, we're all more or less the same :D.
-- INTP's and INFP's are right at the bottom of "coping resources". ENTP's and ENFP's are right at the top. Hmm. Among NP's anyway, what's the causative effect there -- extraversion affecting coping, or folks with more coping resources developing extraversion (nature vs. nurture)? Probably some of both, assuming the statistic is even accurate. Interesting to ponder, though.

That's fine, but why the extremes? Why are ENXP's all the way at the top and INXP's at the bottom? If it was just introversion vs extroversion, we could be distributed anywhere within a range, based on our I/E. Why can't ENXP's be the best at coping out of the extroverts and INXP's be the best at it for introverts? Or maybe we should all be a the bottom of our groups, or the middle... why the polar opposites? The only thing that I can come up with is the difference between Ne dom and Ne aux. How does the same function differ in form when you change the priority?

INTJ - I don't compare myself to other INTJ's and I have no idea if the majority of us fit into these options, so I'm just going to answer if the option fits me or if it doesn't.

• Most important feature of an ideal job: creativity and originality.
I agree, but a decent income is a high priority as well.

• In national sample, lowest in reporting stress associated with "School" and "Caring for aging parents." I've never experienced stress due to school as the only triggering factor. And people get old and there's not much one can do to prevent that, yet.

• In national sample, lowest in coping with stress by "Watching TV."
I don't watch TV.

• In national sample, ranked highest in saying "No" to belief in a higher spiritual power. I'm an atheist.

• Academic subjects preferred: science. No, but it's amongst the top three.

• Highest GPA among college persisters. I'm yet to find out, but probably.

• 1 of 3 highest types in liking work environment characteristic "Variety of tasks" as well as highly favoring "Clear structure" and "Independence & achievement" Yes.

• Lowest of all types in liking work environments characterized by "Making the job as simple as possible." Simple, but not sloppy.

• Most important feature of an ideal job: creativity and originality; earning a lot of money. Definiteley yes; not really (even though it can be nice)
• Males were highest on "obliviousness index" (relatively unaware of spouse's dissatisfaction with the relationship). I´m female, but from the male specimen I know, I´d say: Bless them, they try.
• Highly represented among college students taking foreign languages. Yup
• In national sample, ranked 3rd highest in saying "No" and 2nd highest in "Not sure" to belief in a higher spiritual power.Yup
• In national sample "Leisure Activities," overrepresented in "Appreciating art," "Writing," "Taking classes, going to school," and "Playing with computers or video games." Yup (as demonstrated by spending time on this forum)
• Academic subjects preferred: art, science. Art? I´m more into humanities, but there was a time when I wanted to go into biology like the rest of the family.
• Lowest of all types in liking work environments with "Clear structures & responsibilities," "Employee loyalty & job security," and "Working as part of a team" Tell me about it!
• 1 of 3 highest types liking work environments with "International opportunities" and "Advancement/pay but not job security" Yes and maybe
• Include in top 3 desirable work environment characteristics "Variety of tasks," "Independence & achievement," and "Clear structures." Yes, yes and wtf..clear structures? As in hierarchies and going by the book????? Or as in little politics and clear responsibilities?
• In national sample, dissatisfied with "Salary," "Promotions," and "Job security," "Predictability," and "Working conditions" in their jobs. Yeah, but that comes with being a freelancer
• With INFPs, most dissatisfied with the work they do, where they work, and future work opportunities, and likely to leave job. Sort of, got better since I became my own boss
• With ISTPs, had the lowest mean level of coping resources; ranked 16th out of 16 types on total resources. *sigh*
• Most frequent among college students referred for drug and alcohol violations. And destroy precious neurons? No way! But then again, not because of social rules but because of serious health related considerations.

Yeah -- that was what made me curious too -- you'd not think it would be that divergent. Either that (and this is always a huge thing in polls dealing with type or probably any other self-reported "fuzzy" statistic), there's a large self-reporting bias in there -- in this case people (NP's) may inadvertently correlate their own introversion/extraversion with less/more coping resources, leading to such a skewed-looking set of results. I just found it sort of interesting.

I can only answer to what i find true, i don't actually know many INFP's irl, so have just highlighted what fits me.

• Most important feature of an ideal job: creativity and originality.
Well, i guess my first degree in Fine Arts probably supports this, I am actually very good at analytical work, i just get bored of it after a while

• Have a general advantage in foreign language learning.
Can't comment on that one as i had a second language as a child, so that would probably bias me anyway

• Most likely of all the types to report suicidal thoughts in college.
Hmmm. Not so much suicidal, just not seeing the point in living. There is difference

• In national sample "Leisure Activities," overrepresented in "Writing," "Appreciating art," "Reading," and "Listening to music."
Heh, writing calms my brain down, so i'd have to agree

• Academic subjects preferred: art, English, music.
Art was my first degree, Journalism my second, although, in high school i took the hardest streams of maths, Chem and biology

• Among 3 highest types favoring work environments with "Independence & achievement," and include among top 3 desirable characteristics "Variety of tasks" and "Clear structure."
I HATE unstructured working environments. I like organised chaos, not chaos-chaos in my working life, i do prefer to work alone and get bored very quickly when i find something too easy, which being a fast learner, happens often.

I've wondered before- considering how most INTPs are enneatype 5 and most ENTPs (and ENFPs) are enneatype 7- how switching the dom & aux makes for such a drastically different viewpoint. It is interesting that apparently there's also as much of a divide for INFP.

edit: and I really don't know how accurate these "facts" are in the first place (how large the study was, etc), which is kind of why I posted them, to get others' reactions.

• Most important feature of an ideal job: creativity and originality; earning a lot of money.
Creativity and originality, yes. Earning a lot of money, no. I just want to make enough money to life comfortably and be able to pursue my interests.

• Males were highest on "obliviousness index" (relatively unaware of spouse's dissatisfaction with the relationship).
I'm not surprised by that. Any data on females?

• Highly represented among college students taking foreign languages.
I didn't take any foreign languages in college except for a semester of sign language. But I don't find this surprising.

• In national sample, ranked 3rd highest in saying "No" and 2nd highest in "Not sure" to belief in a higher spiritual power.
Saying no to what?
I'm not sure about a higher power. Not surprised by this.

• In national sample "Leisure Activities," overrepresented in "Appreciating art," "Writing," "Taking classes, going to school," and "Playing with computers or video games."
I like appreciating art when I happen to encounter it but I don't go out of my way to go to art museums or anything like that.
I don't like writing that much unless you count blogging and posting to forums.
I like taking classes just for fun.
I enjoy computers and video games.

• Academic subjects preferred: art, science.
I hated art classes. I can't draw or paint worth crap. I found it very frustrating.
I liked science though. The theory side of it anyway. Not so much the lab work. I was a klutz in the lab.

• Lowest of all types in liking work environments with "Clear structures & responsibilities," "Employee loyalty & job security," and "Working as part of a team"
Mixed feelings about clear structures and responsibilities. I like knowing what's expected of me and I do need a clear sense of purpose but I can't stand being micromanaged and I need flexibility in terms of how I'll go about achieving something. I'd like to have the freedom to take the initiative and start interesting new endeavors when I get the inspiration to do so.

Mixed feelings also about loyalty. I think employees who have stayed a company for a long time and have done a good job should be recognized and rewarded for that. I feel sometimes like they aren't enough. On the other hand, if a better opportunity comes along, I'm going to take advantage of it. If I find that a competitor does things better than my current company, I have no qualms about switching over.

Job security for me is very important.

Working on a team doesn't appeal to me. I much prefer to do things on my own in my own way.

• 1 of 3 highest types liking work environments with "International opportunities" and "Advancement/pay but not job security"
I'd love to travel the world so international opportunities definitely appeals to me.

I value job security more than advancement/pay to a point. I'd rather have a secure job staying in the same position that paid decent but not high than a high paying job where I could move up but I never knew from week to week if I'd get to keep that job. What I don't want is a secure job that's doing menial work or doesn't pay enough to make ends meet. In that case, I'd prefer the advancement/high pay/low security job.

• Include in top 3 desirable work environment characteristics "Variety of tasks," "Independence & achievement," and "Clear structures."
A strong yes to all of these

• In national sample, dissatisfied with "Salary," "Promotions," and "Job security," "Predictability," and "Working conditions" in their jobs.
I'm currently disatisfied with salary but only because my job is part-time. It actually pays a pretty good hourly rate.
I'm disatisfied with promotions because where I work, part-time people don't really get to move up. It's mainly the full-time people who get all the advantages.
I'm dissatisfied with job security but who isn't in this economy?
I'm satisfied with predictability and working conditions.

• With INFPs, most dissatisfied with the work they do, where they work, and future work opportunities, and likely to leave job.
I like the work I do and where I work.

• With ISTPs, had the lowest mean level of coping resources; ranked 16th out of 16 types on total resources.
What's meant by coping resources here? Which coping resources are they evaluating? I find it surprising that ISTP/INTP score the lowest on this. Well maybe INTP is not so surprising considering how they often have to work in environments that go against their type preferences it can be quite draining.

• Most frequent among college students referred for drug and alcohol violations.
I've never had any violations. I've never done drugs and only social drink once in a great while and never to the point I get drunk.

ISTJ to answer for mine, in his favorite color

• Among the four highest in college GPA. he is a high school drop out who went back to get his GED and get an associates degree... probably doesn't apply here :newwink:
• Overrepresented among bank officers and financial managers. he's in sales, though he DOES manage the office
• One of the top 2 types among industrial/technical teachers. nope
• Higher on deductive reasoning than dominant Thinking or Feeling types, with other dominant Sensing types. he IS pretty good at deductive reasoning :thelook:
• Academic subjects preferred: math, practical skills. he does like math, though didn't study it... he studied computers
• More frequent among African Americans. does not apply
• In national sample, highest of all types in liking work environments where "Everything is done by the book" and one of 3 highest types in liking "Toeing the line"; he's pretty rebellious for an ISTJ
• Lowest of all types in liking work environments with "People of different backgrounds." he works in a workplace with all kinds of people of different backgrounds and has no problem with it!
• In national sample, dissatisfied with "Promotions" in their jobs. he has stated before that he'd rather have more money than a promotion
• Overrepresented among both male and female small business owners compared with national sample. he didn't like running his own business in the least
• With ISFJs, far outnumber dominant extraverted Sensing types among chronic pain patients. I think he thinks complaining iis for wimps and rarely does so
• Overrepresented among men with chronic pain - accounted for 38% of sample studied. see above
• Overrepresented among men at risk for heart attack - more than 3.5 times the proportion in Myers' high school sample.
• One of two most overrepresented female types in a substance abuse program.
ESTP

• Among the highest in college retention. oh, I stayed in college... for 6 years worth of education! :holy:
• In national sample "Leisure Activities," overrepresented in "Playing sports." not if they're team sports... I bicycle, but more for fun than for exercize, and NOT competitively
• Academic subjects preferred: history, math, practical skills. ewww... I studied social sciences and languages, nothing practical
• 3 top desirable work characteristics favored in national sample: "Variety of tasks," "Independence & achievement," and "Clear structure." can I choose "lack of personal accountability" for actions as a most desirable work characteristic?
• In national sample, dissatisfied with "Promotions," "Opportunity to contribute to society," and "Amount of stress" in their work. the last two irk me, but I'm not particularly ambitious enough to care for the first
• In national sample, among top 4 types valuing "Prestige." I'd rather get a pay raise than a prestige raise... prestige doesn't matter much to me
• Ranked 15th out of 16 types on using spiritual/philosophical coping resources and 16th out of 16 types on using cognitive coping resources. :rofl1: possibly true
• Ranked highest in "positive affectivity." dammit... it's not my fault that I'm naturally a beam of sunshine in life :sadbanana:
• In national sample, ranked 4th highest in satisfaction with "Marriage/intimate relationship." I'm VERY satisfied with my relationship :wubbie:

• Most important feature of an ideal job: "Use of my special abilities." Yes, though resolving what constitutes my "special abilities" has become an obsession spiraling into madness. I assume that's the e5's phobia factor though.

• In national sample, highest in reporting stress associated with "Work, "Intimate relationship," "School," and "Other." So essentially: all of the above? But yes: attempting to fulfill other people's demands and needs, uncertainty about the projected futures, time constraint projects (or significant others) that do not allow room for much processing will generate stress.

• In national sample, highest in coping with stress by "Talking to a professional." Talking to a trusted third party who can help you examine a situation objectively: yes. Paying someone to do it: no.

• In national sample, ranked highest in being dissatisfied with "Marriage/intimate relationship" I'm dissatisfied enough that I don't consider marriage to be a necessary future. :bye:

• In national sample "Leisure Activities," overrepresented in "Writing" and "Appreciating art"; underrepresented in "Watching sporting events." Yes. I generally can't stay engaged while watching sports.

• Academic subjects preferred: art, English, music. These were the subjects I did perform the best in, though that list would also include language learning for me.

• Among highest college persisters. Yes. Higher education with more and more abstract theory — and authorization/opportunities for academic library resource abuse — is profoundly appealing.

• 3 top work characteristics favored in national sample: "Variety of tasks," "Clear structure," and "Independence & achievement" When objectives are not made clear to me, the goals cannot be met satisfactorily. That being said, I do get restless if my work does not allow me to experiment with creative approaches within that structure of a specific, overall goal.

• Lowest of all types in liking work environments with "Opportunities for advancement & high pay but not job security." A shifting uncertain present means that you cannot project a long-range future until it stabilizes. Short-term, that is fine. Long-term, I'd consider it intolerable.

• In national sample, dissatisfied with "Promotions" and "Salary" in their jobs. I don't have much career ambition besides a desire for general recognition when I do a job (very) well done.

• With ISTPs, ranked first among all the types in using spiritual/philosophical coping resources. Yes.

• Among the 3 male types most "oblivious" to partner's dissatisfaction with the relationship. Ha! I wouldn't know about that.

Overall, I didn't see anything I profoundly disagreed with.

• In national sample "Leisure Activities," overrepresented in "Taking classes, going to school," "Writing," "Playing sports," "Playing with computers or video games"
I've done all the above, I enjoy half of those things
• Underrepresented in "Watching TV 3 or more hours per day."
I hate T.V. for the most part...too many commercials, too little attention span...there are better things I could be doing with my time, like playing with computers/video games. :D
• Academic subjects preferred: art, science.
The fact that my decision on a major is the conflict between my interest in arts and science makes this a very big YES!!!
• 1 of 2 types most frequent among college alcohol policy violators.
Tehehe... Yup.
• In national sample, highest of all types in liking work environment characteristics "Independence & achievement" and "Opportunities for advancement & high pay, but not job security" and including "Variety of tasks" and "Clear structure" among top 3 characteristics
Agree
• 1 of top 3 types liking "International opportunities" as a characteristic.
BIG YES!!!!
• Most important feature on an ideal job: creativity and originality.
Mmmhm.
• In national sample, dissatisfied with "Promotions," "Opportunities to use talents," and "Salary" in their work.
I'm assuming this is them not receiving promotions, or seeing people who might not deserve them, and getting lower salaries than how much work is put in...which in my case I would be dissatisfied with.
• In national sample, among those types most dissatisfied with their work and among those with the highest income.
Ummm okay? Maybe I just don't understand what this is saying.
• With ENFPs, had highest mean level of coping resources.
Meh...for the most part. It depends on what I'm dealing with and how long I have to deal with it.
• Overrepresented among those having Type A behavior.
Hell no.
• In national sample, highest in coping with stress by "Confronting the problem."
No doubt.
• In national sample, ranked lowest in "Ever had heart disease/hypertension."
My heart is terrible, due to heart murmur, messing up with birth control, and my wonderful ability to suppress anger, although my blood pressure is surprisingly low.

• Among the highest in college retention.
I plan on getting my degree, but I also planned to transfer at least three or more times in my college career.
• In national sample "Leisure Activities," overrepresented in "Playing sports."
Sure
• Academic subjects preferred: history, math, practical skills.
Hate it...I like having things that I am learning have some sort of practicality, but I'm not a fan of history or math classes.
• 3 top desirable work characteristics favored in national sample: "Variety of tasks," "Independence & achievement," and "Clear structure."
Yes
• In national sample, dissatisfied with "Promotions," "Opportunity to contribute to society," and "Amount of stress" in their work.

• In national sample, among top 4 types valuing "Prestige."
Meh...I'd appreciate it.

No
• Ranked highest in "positive affectivity."
For the most part...friends look to me for optimism and helpful advice.

• Underrepresented in "Listening to music" and "Writing."
Definietely no for music, I'm always listening to it everywhere I go. For writing, it depends.
• Academic subjects preferred: math, practical skills.
True, but science should also be up there.
• Highest of all types in national sample liking work environments with "Independence & achievement"
Without them I am nothing.
• Include among top 3 desirable work characteristics "Clear structure" and "Variety of tasks."
I need variety or else I'll get bored and go crazy. At times, I like a clear structure to know what is needed of me, but I hate it when people hover over me.
• Most important feature of an ideal job: "A stable and secure future."
It would be nice to have it.

I'm actually formatting this in a user-friendly way so people will actually read it instead of posting a wall of text.

TRUE: Job must use my abilities.
What would I be useful for if I didn't use my special skills at work?

FALSE: Like writing, art, and language.
What, are we assuming all INFJs are e4s (lol, now I'm stereotyping e4s)?

TRUE: Hate watching sports.
Ew. So boring.

FALSE: Use spiritual coping resources.
Ew. I'm irreligious.

TRUE: Use philosophical coping resources.
They're the only resources that actually help me.

I don't trust what people lie, exaggerate, and whine about in surveys, though. So I don't trust the OP post survey.

Fascinating, dear Z Buck!

ENFJ

• Rated by psychologists among 2 types least likely to have trouble in school.
• In national sample "Leisure Activities," overrepresented in "Appreciating art," "Writing," "Listening to music," and "Reading"
• Underrepresented in "Watching TV 3 or more hours per day."
• Academic subjects preferred: art, English, music.
• Among 3 highest types in national sample liking work environments with "Variety of tasks," "Teamwork," and "People from a variety of backgrounds."
• Include in 3 most desirable characteristics "Independence and achievement."
• Most important feature of an ideal job: "Use of my special abilities."
• In national sample, were among those most satisfied with their work, where they work, but likely to leave job.
• In national sample, greatest work environment satisfiers are "People I work with," "Opportunities to use talents," "Opportunity to learn," "Job security," "Amount of responsibility," and "Opportunity for societal contribution."
• Greatest dissatisfiers were "Promotions" and "Salary."
• Highest ranks on coping resources used were social and cognitive (ranked 3rd on both among the 16 types); ranked 3rd in total resources of the 16 types.
• In national sample, highest in coping with stress by "Exercising."
• In national sample, ranked highest in "Belief in a higher spiritual power."

#1 - I excelled academically if you could keep my attention. I had a terrible time focusing, almost never completed anything on time, and enjoyed socializing more than struggling with division tables. I had a high sense of anxiety about my school performance though. Seems like two things pulling in opposition. In middle school, I graduated 8th grade from my (small) school with highest grade point average. I worked hard for that - I felt I had no other attribute to recommend me. I was awkward and gawky, and I was really unsure of myself. Guys freaked me out. My body freaked me out. Lip liner freaked me out. You get the picture. When I was in college, I would frequently show up to class unprepared and wind up taking notes et al on the back of my planner. *eye roll* I didn't want my parents or the teachers I liked to be disappointed in me while being hopelessly scattershot.

#2 - Me all the way. What was left out was "underrepresented in athletic ability, melanin, and daylight activities".

#3 - I have a rather schizophrenic relationship with my tv. I feel like it drains my energy away, and a lot of tv is garbage. I could leave the tv off for very long stretches and not notice. My tv dates to 1987. I'm not kidding.

#4 - I want to be a writer. I am already an artist. And my band broke up years ago. I'm predictable now. YAY!

#5 - Oh yes. The variety in people is what I live for.

#6 - Both, in spades. Totally agree.

#7 - I couldn't imagine leaving a place I liked unless I was compelled to by outside circumstances. I like to establish myself. Uprooting is pointless.

#8 - Wow. All of those.

#9 - Ok, now, not being promoted or getting a pay rise for doing a really good job would really make me mad and make me feel unappreciated for my efforts.

#10 - 3rd in resources... I find that interesting... I wonder what all of that consists of...

#11 - HOLY WOW... Tertiary Se, anyone??! I destress by physical activity. It makes me feel like I have some control and puts me in my body.

#12 - Highest. Huh. What do you know. Again, I wonder why that is? I would have said INFJs, if asked. I have a strong belief in God myself.
