I am currently a senior in college.
For the past two or three months, I've felt less eager to socialize..at least with a group of friends I know well.
I have taken more pleasure in spending time alone than in hanging out with many people in this group. I'm not sure why.
The only thing I can think of is that I've been growing bored.
I still hang out with them a lot but I feel like I'm not doing it enough (at least relative to most other people in the group).. this group also happens to be a SLG (which I'm a part of) who lives together (meaning that I live there).. so that means people in this group hang out together basically 24/7.
I don't know if this is a sign that I'm an Introvert or could it just be that I'm bored enough that the thought of socializing within this group just seems more boring than going on my own?
I'm remarkably independent and still am energized by interesting conversations (regardless of it's one-on-one or in a group) but I just don't feel like "socializing for the sake of socializing" if it's boring.

I identify with this...
The entertainment factor in the whole thing is definitely important.
I take it that you have special interests that are different from those of your group members?
Their intelligence is lower? Their morals and their integrity is lower?
Other reasons too, like people who always fight. I hate fighting. Harmony is best.
Or people who make everything an insurmountable obstacle.
I really can't stand people who don't have a "can-do"-attitude.

Does it sound similar? Is it disappointment that occasionally makes you a loner?

Also, extroversion is about interaction with both people and objects. Not just socializing.
It's also about how you are defined, from within or from the outside.
It is not, like so many believe, about if you talk or socialize much or not.

This introversion/extroversion thing used to be one of my pet peeves until a few members nailed Te for and within me. It's a task-oriented form of extroversion instead of a people focused form of extroversion.

In other words, unless there are clear reasons to approach or connect with someone, you're less likely to do so. Clear reason might simply be that you find someone's company enjoyable or like their approach.

Metaphor, how does that explain that ENTPs and ENFPs are supposed to be the "introverts among extroverts"?
None of them have Te as a primary function. Not being hostile, just testing your theory.

Type dynamics and development

The interaction of two, three, or four preferences is known as type dynamics. Although type dynamics has garnered little or no empirical support to substantiate its viability as a scientific theory,[30] Myers and Briggs asserted that for each of the 16 four-preference types, one function is the most dominant and is likely to be evident earliest in life. A secondary or auxiliary function typically becomes more evident (differentiated) during teenage years and provides balance to the dominant. In normal development, individuals tend to become more fluent with a third, tertiary function during mid life, while the fourth, inferior function remains least consciously developed. The inferior function is often considered to be more associated with the unconscious, being most evident in situations such as high stress (sometimes referred to as being in the grip of the inferior function).

ENFPs have Te as one of their four primary functions albeit tert.

As far as ENTPs are concerned, taking a wild guess, they get caught up in the Ne-Ti loop, too busy trying figure out concepts internally, than expend energy towards people extroversion. Ever notice that when they finally decide to socialise in a people way, they're very good at it?

But I'm not certain what either of these type examples have to do with what I was posting about which was how Te manifests as dom (ENTJs) and aux (INTJs). Perhaps you took what I had posted as a more encompassing theory where instead, it had a much more limited scope.

I have special interests which are pretty different from my friends.
Sometimes, I walk out of my room to socialize and I just hear people talking about Magic: The Gathering or some other very specific topic which I either know nothing about or have no interest in.
The other thing is that many of them have a bad habit of interrupting others who speak (including me)- I know it's something to not take personally (people who interrupt me interrupt others) but it's a behavior which bothers me really easily and I have trouble talking to people like that unless they are talking about a topic which actually interests me... and a lot of small talk doesn't interest me.
It often isn't very fun to socialize with some of these people..

Also, I like to drink alcohol (and to get drunk) and some of them take on a very puritanical view towards drunkenness....
I just want to say to them, "Get over it. I like the feelings alcohol give me."
