One of my favorite songs (INTP):

Switchfoot, "Happy Is A Yuppie Word"

Ah!

Everyone dies
Everyone loves a fight
Nothing is sound
Nothing is right side right
Evening comes, when the sun goes down in red
Nothing is cool
When will all the fighting end
When will all the fighting end

Happy is a yuppie word
Nothing in the world could fail me now
It's empty as an argument
I'm running down a life that won't cash out (cash out)

Everything fails
Everything runs it's course
A time and a place, for all of this loving war
Everyone buys, everyone's gotta price, and nothing is new
When will all the failures rise
When will all the failures rise, rise!

Happy is a yuppie word
Nothing in the world could fail me now
It's empty as an argument
I'm running down a life that won't cash out

Happy is a yuppie word
Blessed is the man who's lost it all
Happy is a yuppie word (word)

Looking for an orphanage
I'm looking for a bridge I can't burn down
I don't believe the emptiness
I'm looking for the kingdom coming down
Everything is meaningless
I want more than simple cash can buy
Happy is a yuppie word
Happy is a yuppie word
Happy is a yuppie word
Happy is a yuppie,

Nothing is sound
Nothing is sound
Nothing is sound
Nothing is sound
Nothing is sound
Nothing is sound
Nothing is sound

Happy is a yuppie word
Nothing in the world could fail me now
Happy is a yuppie word (word)

So calm down, yeah!
So calm down, yeah!
So calm down, yeah!

I think the theme song for the latest Star Trek series, Enterprise - though I don't really like it - is quite apt for the ENTP (if you take out the 'heart' business). Though it's not the same without the actual video part as well.

That sorta belief in oneself and in the existence of a solution to every problem - the refusal to accept that 'it can't be done', general resourcefulness and adaptability - well, it's all quite tear-jerking and back-patting for an ENTP :)

An ENTP of mine used to bellow "Punk Rock Girl" by the Dead Milkmen at me from across the campus. Does that count? ha ha! :D

My best friend (a billy joel enthusiast) always insists that the song "My Life" makes her think of me!

Some asshole at the bar dedicated the song Desperado, by the Eagles to me

Probably the Imperial March from Star Wars for an XNTJ :D

I think that's a great theme song for you! When I think of 'themesong' I think of what music will cue up to announce your entrance and follow you around alerting people to your presence? Because the Imperial March is definitely an attention grabber. :)

As for me, I personally like deep moving lyrics and a complex emotional narrative told through an elegant harmonic structure.

So of course my personal theme song is "You're The Best" by Joe Esposito aka The Karate Kid Song

The inspirational chorus:
You're the best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You're the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You're the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ow-own

My other themesong is "Just a Girl" by Ian Van Dahl.

Also incredibly complex, multi-layered, evocative lyrics. They really make you think for a minute.

I'm just a girl
Looking for a heartbeat
(in the night...)
Won't stop until I've found it,
Don't know any fear..
3x
I'm just a girl...

I am ready for love..
I am ready for love!
I am ready for love..
I am ready for love!
I am ready for love..
I am ready for love!
I am ready for love..
I am ready for love!

I'm just a girl
Looking for a heartbeat
(in the night...)
Won't stop until I've found it,
Don't know any fear..
2x
I'm just a girl...!
I'm just a girl...

Type Theme Songs

I don't know all the types well enough to come up with songs, but for INFJ, I'd have to say it's the theme to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind by Jon Brion:

(was going to stick youtube vid, but it's not working...)

Youtube vid of the song.

It's been my theme song for several years, and I feel that I'm the quintessential INFJ. But I don't want to speak for everyone. :)

Joni Mitchell Woman of Heart and Mind
YouTube - Joni Mitchell-Woman Of Heart And Mind

I am a woman of heart and mind
With time on her hands
No child to raise
You come to me like a little boy
And I give you my scorn and my praise
You think Im like your mother
Or another lover or your sister
Or the queen of our dreams
Or just another silly girl
When love makes a fool of me

After the rush when you come back down
Youre always disappointed
Nothing seems to keep you high
Drive your bargains
Push your papers
Win your medals
Fuck your strangers
Dont it leave you on the empty side

Im looking for affection and respect
A little passion
And you want stimulation-nothing more
Thats what I think
But you know Ill try to be there for you
When your spirits start to sink

All this talk about holiness now
It must be the start of the latest style
Is it all books and words
Or do you really feel it?
Do you really laugh?
Do you really care?
Do you really smile
When you smile?

You criticize and you flatter
You imitate the best
And the rest you memorize
You know the times you impress me most
Are the times when you dont try
When you dont even try

Also "Amelia"
YouTube - Joni Mitchell - Amelia

I was driving across the burning desert
When I spotted six jet planes
Leaving six white vapor trails across the bleak terrain
It was the hexagram of the heavens
It was the strings of my guitar
Amelia, it was just a false alarm

The drone of flying engines
Is a song so wild and blue
It scrambles time and seasons if it gets thru to you
Then your life becomes a travelogue
Of picture-post-card-charms
Amelia, it was just a false alarm

People will tell you where theyve gone
Theyll tell you where to go
But till you get there yourself you never really know
Where some have found their paradise
Others just come to harm
Oh amelia, it was just a false alarm

I wish that he was here tonight
Its so hard to obey
His sad request of me to kindly stay away
So this is how I hide the hurt
As the road leads cursed and charmed
I tell amelia, it was just a false alarm

A ghost of aviation
She was swallowed by the sky
Or by the sea, like me she had a dream to fly
Like icarus ascending
On beautiful foolish arms
Amelia, it was just a false alarm

Maybe Ive never really loved
I guess that is the truth
Ive spent my whole life in clouds at icy altitude
And looking down on everything
I crashed into his arms
Amelia, it was just a false alarm

I pulled into the cactus tree motel
To shower off the dust
And I slept on the strange pillows of my wanderlust
I dreamed of 747s
Over geometric farms
Dreams, amelia, dreams and false alarms

God I don't like the ENTP choices! If I as an ENTP had to relate most to any song here you have it:

Too much food by Jason Mraz...

Oh You can say that I'm the one curly fry in the box of a regular
Messing with the flavor, oh the flavor that you savor
Saving me for last, but you better not eat me at all
Living in a fastfood bag making friends with the ketchup and salt
People say that I'm crazy for not moving on to better things
Instead of sitting around trash talking with the onion rings
But it's much too soon to leave this easy life
Pass me the spoon, pass the analytical knife

Cause you're about to get cut up or get cut down
It's all about the wordplay, all about the sound of my tone in my voice
You gotta let me make my choice alone, before my food gets cold
Better shut up or get shot down
It's all about the know-how, all just a matter of taste
Stop telling me the way I gotta play now
Too much food on my plate

Well believe it or not I super-sized my sights on the surprise in a cereal box
My stomach's smaller than my eyes
So I went to the see the doctor and he said "turn my head and then cough"
I didn't listen to what he said, instead I couldn't wait to get off
He said I can have this but I can't have that
I should keep wishing I was living the life of a cat but, uh
I ain't the one who's gonna be missing the feast
Just like you ain't the one who seems to be calming the beast

Now you're about to get cut up or get cut down
It's all about the wordplay, all about the sound of my tone in my voice
You gotta let me make my choice alone, before my food gets cold
Better shut up or get shot down
It's all about the know-how, all just a matter of taste
Stop telling me the way that I gotta play
You're putting too much food on my plate, c'mon

Oh' No
Shey Shey

Well if you are what you eat in my case I'll be sweet
So come and get some
I'm so over it

Cause you're about to get cut up or get cut down
It's all about the know-how, all just a matter of taste
Stop telling me the way that I gotta play
You're putting to much food on my plate, c'mon
Get up to get get it to get down
Get up to get get it to get down
Get up to get get it enough c'mon
Get up
Get up
Get up
C'mon
Get up to get get it to get some
Get up to get get it to get some
Get up to get get it to get some
There's too much food on my plate, c'mon

I thought of Enya's 'Only If' for ENTP. The idea of 'seizing the day' and new ideas/horizons seems to fit well with ENTP inventiveness.

Supertramp's "Logical Song" makes a good INFJ theme song:

When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful, a miracle, it was beautiful, magical
And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so happily, joyfully, playfully, watching me
But then they send me away to teach me how to be sensible, logical, responsible, practical
And they showed me a world where I could be so dependable, clinical, intellectual, cynical

There are times when all the world's asleep
The questions run too deep for such a simple man
Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned
I know it sounds absurd but please tell me who I am

I said now, watch what you say, now we're calling you a radical, a liberal, fanatical, criminal
Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're acceptable, respectable, presentable, a vegetable

But at night, when all the world's asleep
The questions run so deep for such a simple man
Won't you please (Won't you tell me), (You can tell me what) please tell me what we've learned (Can you hear me?)
I know it sounds absurd, (Won't you help me) please tell me who I am, who I am, who I am, who I am

But I'm thinking so logical

Did you call, one two three four

It's getting unbelievable

The Logical song is more like an INFP living in an ESTJ world.

I do very well with the 1940's hit (no I wasn't alive then) Don't Fence Me In for INFJ. Um, think of it as a metaphor.

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,
Don't fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
Don't fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze,
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees,
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
Don't fence me in.

Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western skies.
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise.

I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
And gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
And I can't look at hovels and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in.

I heard this song on the radio the other day, and it reminded me of an Si dominant's perspective:

YouTube - Bob Seger - Old time Rock and Roll

"Old Time Rock and Roll" ~Bob Seger

Just take those old records off the shelf
I sit and listen to 'em by m'self
Today's music ain't got the same soul
I like that old time rock and roll

Don't try to take me to a Disco
You'll never even get me out on the floor
In 10 minutes I'll be late for the door
I like that old time rock and roll

Still like that old time rock and roll
The kinda music just soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old
With that old time rock and roll

Don't wanna hear 'em play a Tango
I'd rather hear some blues or funky old soul
There's only one sure way to get me to go
Start playin' old time rock and roll

Call me a relic call me what'cha will
Say I'm old fashioned say I'm over the hill
Today's music ain't got the same soul
I like that old time rock and roll

Still like that old time rock and roll
