People expect too much out of logic. Run around with a label gun... in attempt to tag everything that's "good" to be logical and fundamentally sound. Except life is subjective. Rarely do you get boolean logic. But people don't care about "logic logic" really. They just want something that is consistent and make sense to them.

Perhaps a mislabelling based on the identified virtue of being logical, pragmatic?

In the way you mean it, they are the same with a different representation. It's the problem with working with representations. What we make them is arbitrary, and many people forget this and get lost in playing with the representation rather than looking at what something really is. Working in physics you wouldn't believe the number of times people start claiming to find things to do with prime numbers for example, when they haven't detached themselves from the base 10 system. Many things people find are artifacts of the chosen representation. It is why, "What are we really talking about?", is a good starting question with most problems. And it sets you up with some awareness of what you are concluding from logical analysis.
