You see a gross injustice.
The injustice is sanctioned by your immediate environment.
What do you do?

You go with the ride?

Do I know the victim? How about the perpetrator? Does it suit my interests to intervene?
Those would be my criteria.

I think I would have to ignore it, unless I had the power to stop it. Otherwise... I'd probably just get myself in trouble lashing out against it and have no real impact on it.

Depending on how bad it was in my opinion, though, I might consider working against it in the background even if I pretended not to care or go along with it on the surface.

The perpetrator of my dreams.
Thank you, mtaclof. The answer is ahead of the question.

No. I can't stand myself letting bad things happen, so I fight it.
Heard this is common in ENTJ's and ENFJ's. Hero syndrome, or something.
Half the time I don't even like the people I have bailed out of fights and whatnot.

My question is where do you draw the line? Do you have specific criteria that determine your action, or do you just go on intuition?

You go with the ride?

I missed an option earlier.
You have three options.

You are standing in the middle of the road waiting for a bus.
You know where you want to go.

One bus is going where you want to go but is lacking momentum.
The other bus is going in the opposite direction gaining momentum.
And there you are in the middle of the road.

So what do you do?

Get on the first bus and gather more passengers.
Get on the second bus and try to turn it around.
Or you stay in the middle of the road.

How do you decide?
Maybe that comes back to your earlier post

Do you measure the thing?
You measure what manifests of the thing.

Does the thing manifest?
No.

What do you measure then?

You measure your desire.

I would go with the ride, but I would quietly subvert the ride in order to change it into a path I desire for myself and others. I'm not a hero, but I'm not about to ignore something that causes pain either.

Interesting posts.
Mtaclof is not really into the game. He is too worried for his interest.
I should understand if he were worried for his safety. There is no interest option here.

Athenian is the secret agent. A man for subversion. He only pretends to go along with the ride.
Those who helped the Frank family in Amsterdam during WWII chose the Athenian path.
Only the crime was not sanctioned by their immediate environment.
Therefore they were partly succesful?
In Germany the crime was sanctioned by the immediate environment.
There is no Anne Frank story there either.

Wolfy rides the ride or steps aside and then thinks again.
Jeremy chooses one of wolfy's bus options.
Will the bus change route?
I honestly do not know.

LocalJesus does not always love the people he bails out of car fights.
Clinton suffered of the hero syndrome, too. On a boat to Helsinki, in his youth, he intervened in a bar fight. It is unhealthy to intervene in a fight between drunken Finns.
But you always learn. Clinton learned, too. And very quickly. :)
