Do you mean that the bottom one is your "default" gaze, i.e. your natural expression?

no...not sure i have a default stare... depends on what i'm staring at...i reflect what i'm looking at i think.

or maybe not...i have no idea what i'm talking about...let's change the subject...haha.. :D

This insinuates your eyes having a reactive look, responding to what you see. Hence, the look of life in NF eyes.

You know, I thought it would be fun to do a bunch of shots of my eyes with different 'moods'... but when I was done and clipped out all the eyes only... I realized why so many people have such a hard time reading INTJ's LOL. They all look nearly the same. Most of the expression (that was removed) was actually around the MOUTH, not the eyes.

Anyway, here were the results of my experiment

I'll actually try this tonight. Post some eye picks and see if you can pick up on expressions. It'd be interesting to see this done across the types.

Hey now! I found this thread and it took me a few days to get through it but I'm here. I posted this photo in the picture time thread but it may be helpful here as well. Sorry it's not a natural, in my element pic. I have a bunch of introverted friends who couldn't give a crap about taking pics. I'm pretty much the only one with a camera but here it is:

Nope, not really. I mean, body language is one thing (and it's already a stretch, I've been pleasantly and unpleasantly surprised before), but looks....facial expressions aside, the way you look is first and foremost decided at birth. And I do not believe type is decided at birth like some people suggest so...

'Confirmation bias' is a very powerful phenomenon. That's why I'd love to have subjected myself to other people's theories before I disclosed my type.

I think look can be type related. What we favour cognitively decides how we approach the world. It isn't flawless, but you could see some types being more likely to look relaxed than some other types, and an extrovert to look like they are engaging the world in a different way to an introvert. Some emotional looks are more common for different types too.

In my view,

feeling/thinking you can get by how in the fire someone is, there is a different look to a detached viewer of a situation than one with their heart in the middle of it.

introverted/extroverted you can get by the way they are engaging. Put a photo of an ENFP and an INFP side by side, or ESFP and ISFP, you'll see it pretty quickly. Some types are harder though.

intuition/sensing I can't read in any quantitative way, I just see it. I feel like I can look deeper into an N, maybe because I'm an N. There's a complexity in the eyes.

perceiving/judging I normally need to read appearance for this, way they dress, what they favour, how much time they took on their hair, etc. Only way I can read it from eyes is by seeing a different type's look. There is a clear difference between INFJ and INFP, and ENFJ and ENFP though.

In some ways you are right though that it is comfirmed after the fact rather than predicts it well. I think it has some merit though, just is far from 100% reliable.

I think different pictures of the same person can give radically different vibes so I can't say more than - I completely disagree. But I'd love to be proved wrong.
