I'm conducting a research project do determine if job choice and satisfaction correlate with types. Soooooo....if you are CERTAIN of your type (meaning that you don't change it every few weeks) would you please share with me what you do for a living? Are you happy in that job? What's your dream job? and What's your MBTI type? Also, please share how you arrived at your type.

Here's an example:

I'm a writer and painter. I'm an INFJ. I arrived at that conclusion after being tested by a psychologist and a long discussion with him. I love being a writer. My dream is to live a quiet, peaceful life, paint pictures, sell them, see them hung in international galleries which I would visit occasionally. The rest of the time I'd like to stay home in a quiet little country setting and write my novels, which I would also sell. Once in a while, I'd go give a book talk or go to a book signing and interact with readers online.

Now, it's your turn. I hope you'll oblige me. I need no personal identification, simply your type, your job, your satisfaction level, your dream job and how you arrived at your type.

supply chain, procurement agent. Pay is okay but I fucking hate it and constantly feel burned out. It's made me even more cynical and antisocial than normal.

My new job title is called "Customer Service Office Associate" although I do very little customer service. Mostly, I work on dispatches, invoices, typing, and organization. I answer the phone from time to time. Doesn't really fit my type, but hey.

I am INTJ and a research physicist. I am very certain of my type, because it comes from a combination of: official MBTI test, reading lots of type descriptions, and getting opinions from people who know me well and understand MBTI. I have done less personal research into enneagram, but core 5, sp/sx, is fairly certain from the same measures.

I am an experimentalist, which very much suits my personality and interests. I enjoy making things work in the lab, analyzing data, planning experiments, etc. Unfortunately my workplace is extremely bureaucratic, and especially as one gains more seniority, there is always the push into doing more management or administrative functions. I hate that. I don't mind leading a team, or mentoring younger colleagues, in fact I quite enjoy it as long as it stays relatively technical. Budgets and contracts and regulations, though, make me want to gag, other than just keeping project costs within a given budget. That much is a no brainer. Add to that the fact that I have been dealing with a workplace bully for the past couple of years, and my present position has become almost untenable. I have been looking to move on for the past year or so, but my field is specialized enough that it is hard to find a good match. In principle, though, I still think I chose a good profession for my personality and nature.

My job is as a welder. I like it very much because it is pretty profitable. The most critical and decisive factor in a sales pitch is incentivising the mark to choosing. To do so I'll tell you that this profession is very high pay, regardless of how the compensation is calculated - by the piece method or by the hour. Whether its true or not! I'll tell you whatever I think you need to hear to capitulate and do what I want, suggesting that you can believe things as outlandish as: The welder has always been one of the highest-paid professions, and the importance of the profession has grown several times over the past decades. With the accumulation of work experience and work experience come great opportunities for career growth. Especially in large companies, where management is willing to hire even inexperienced professionals who have just completed their training. Sounds too good to be true doesnt it? That's because it is. If you want to get COPD and be exposed to many chemicals in your lungs, if you like working on dangerous jobs sites, welding could be for you. And if you are already a welder, you would do well to read reviews about things that discuss unions, because you're certainly going to need a good union. Construction is a nightmare.

I'm an enfp. I'm very sure of it because I literally could not be anything else. I have known for a long time and it hasn't changed.

I am a photographer and photo editor. I work from home for a photography company and do admin work and editing as well as my own photography.

I am transitioning to elopements. I just want to photograph people on mountaintops and at the beach. Just a few times a week.

I love my job/s. I love the freedom and flexibility. The making my own hours. Being able to do it from anywhere and using my natural skill sets of working with people and being creative.

My dream job would be to own a beautiful wedding venue and a few cool airbnb rentals.

I am an Enfp. for the same reasons as @Lady_X explains LOL.. this is who i am to my core.

Currently I work as a sales director at a local furniture store . This position works for me because I am able to to wear many hats creatively and direct our marketing team. So it keeps my creative juices flowing.

I also create children's books for a living. I am working on my fourth one currently. So that feeds a side of me that needs to be satiated.

My dream job is to have a brand surrounding my books and have a creative team of illustrators that bring all my visions to life, my whimsical worlds , stories and characters. Or my own publishing firm.

I am an INTJ. I took a test that gave me these results and then read about different types and became certain of that conclusion after a few months of consideration. I am an enneagram 6 sx/sp. That again was through a test but also a 90 minute interview with a noted expert. This combination makes me look a bit more ISTJish than many other INTJs. The sx is a bit unusual as well giving me a dimension interpersonally that is quite different than a lot of INTJs. I am more intense, reactive, overtly confrontational, and probably emotionally driven and expressive than a lot of INTJ. I am sure of these type results, having about 40 books on the topic and reading about the stuff over a number of years.

As to my job, I don't have one at the moment. I am a student pursuing a degree in data science. Before that, I began a career in the cybersecurity field before it was a thing, then became a partner at two different international consulting firms. I really did enjoy the work but hours were long and stressful. I believe I was well suited to the work. 6s are very good at thinking about how things can go wrong. INTJs are naturals at contingency planning and I think to consulting work in general. Though I wasn't sure about the leadership and sales aspects to the job to begin with, it turned out I was surprisingly good at both and quite entrepreneurial. I loved consulting- always new challenges, oppotunities for problem solving and innovation. It was also a good use of my writing skills. Mostly I enjoyed being on small collaborative teams to get things done. Got a great deal of enjoyment out of that.

I continue to debate as to whether I want to go back to work. It is tempting. For now, I am taking it easy for a bit.

no, I have been working for them for about 5 years. I started as a photographer for them and then they closed the local office but kept me on staff to help with edits, making videos, tech support, admin stuff etc but I can still make my own hours so if I have a personal shoot or whatever it's easy to just sort of mark myself out etc.

Photography is super fun and rewarding tho. I would suggest trying to find a studio that will mentor you, let you assist etc :)

Also just practice a whole lot. You can create your own business and set up your life however you want. <3

It shouldn't surprise anyone that this INTP 5 is an Analytics and Visualization Architect.

I didn't really finish the prompt in the original post! I'm so lazy these days all I do is read thread titles now.

I typed myself after taking a basic test in a psych undergraduate course. I tested as INTP from the beginning, but then got some books on the theory behind the subject, specifically the cognitive functions, and re-evaluated through that lens, but ultimately nothing changed. I devoured information about other inventories and ultimately settled on type 5 in a similar way. Initial test for guidance, further reading and introspection to rule out different possibilities.

I love my job. I essentially design and implement backend systems (databases, warehouses, data pipelines), "middle" end models (information models, schemas, data science processes), and then front end output (interactive visualizations , dashboards, reports, metrics) for businesses to consume. It has a little bit of everything that I love doing. Deep modeling/architecture thinking where you try to corral "reality" into a digestible system, creative design in making "pretty" and functional front end interfaces, and a lot of experimentation in trying to find interesting patterns and threads that I can then follow to create a new, illuminating concept.

If I had a dream job, I'd probably be a theoretical physicist or mathematician. But I like money too much.

I'm learning about things like this in the program I'm taking - spark, kafka, Hadoop, etc.

Fe dom of some kind. Leaning towards ESFJ. I arrived at that clumsily, half-heartedly, and without much enthusiasm. I used to be heavily into MBTI back in 2012 but now see it more as a kind of offshoot from an intuition (non-typologically) that describes tendencies, but not with any strong grounding in reliability. But that's not a blanket discounting, more of a cautious observation.

I've had quite a few jobs over the years: Warehouse worker, construction, photocopying assistant in a hospital, retail worker, office worker, veterinary nurse, and now I'm trying to get into IT. Currently unemployed, though I've made money on the side by doing commission work for friends and painting and selling on Ebay. And I spent the last year or so doing a course to get into IT and managed to get my Comptia A+ certification, it's not much but it's a notch above nothing.

My satisfaction would have to be on the low end, as evidenced by my leaving and changing so many jobs. With the exception of vet nurse, they were all done to survive so my expectation was only for that motivation. I met some good people along the way, some of whom I still keep in touch with (I'm actually going out for a meal tonight with a couple of old work colleagues who became friends).

Had an interview yesterday through Microsoft Teams with a company that provides support to local council and business IT structures. The interview went well, but then I usually interview quite well (I'm extremely good at lying and repressing what I feel in order to come across as something I'm not so I can feed into the interviewer's version of reality). As far as I'm concerned: I can't really be blamed for taking advantage of a system that rewards deception, so a skill that would be useless in a healthy society is excellent in a corrupt one.

My dream job is one that pays enough to be comfortable, but not excessively, that involves almost no interaction with people, where I can work on projects steadily and at my own pace. However I believe this is a fantasy, but that's why it's a dream, right?

ISTP, delivery driver. I hate it because its physically unforgiving and takes up my entire day with boring repetitive tasks. My dream job is probably something more of the creative variety with not too much pressure, and loads of downtime.

I arrived at my type after much debate. Ive previously typed as xNTP, and INTJ. After much deliberation, its become apparent I am probably a jumper/looper type. A Ti-Ni ISTP.

Administration in the health sector. Falcarius is in the process of changing jobs within the same organisation; he was a flexible admin worker so worked around various mental health and community setting but soon to be an administrator in a specialist mental health outpatient service. He has done the same job within another team in the same department, it is mostly taking calls from stakeholders, triaging calls to decide if he has to pass it on to a medic or clinician or management. Sending appointment letters to patients and sending reports digitally to physicians. Transcribing if he was not such a noob.

Its kinda weird mix of NF and SJ stuff. Our CEO (who was originally a psychiatrist) is probably an xNFJ so is pushing the whole corporate values with are essentially NF things "safe and caring" and the organisation mantra is pretty much "An outstanding team delivering outstanding care". He is totally all over Black Lives Matter stuff, Black History Month, and environmentalism. Every week he does a zoom meeting for the whole of the staff to listen (if they have not anything better to do) where he basically says the organisation needs to be less corporate and more people-centred. The actual job is quite repetitive and everything has to be done in a certain way irrespective if it is the most effective way, but receiving some of the calls and reading those reports can be downright depressing.
